So I finally got an Xbox 360. (Thank you to my wonderful wife!) Since then I have spent way too much of my life in front of the damned thing. Hours of sleep that I will never get back. And, of course I did what any guy would do the second he is presented with the gift of technology, I immediately headed out for Best Buy to buy MORE STUFF. I bought a couple extra controllers, a few games, some unecessary accessories, etc. you know what I mean. There’s always a few dollars more you can spend to make an already fantastic piece of electronics that much more fantastic. I mean it almost seemed a shame not to have purchased those items. What a waste it would be if this new and wonderful (not to mention expensive) device were not allowed to reach its true potential for want of a few little peripherals. Right? I can only imagine this is the same feeling many women get when they see a sale on shoes. Fortunately, my wife is a very understanding woman who let this by with only a passing comment. I’ve got four games for it so far, three of which I have played (Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Viva Pinata, and Gears of War) and one I haven’t because I’m saving it (Call of Duty 3). You will probably see some posts on these in the near future, especially as it cuts into my movie watching time.
I was considering getting Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions which looked really cool. I had seen a preview of the game in the theater before I even had an XBox and it looked cool. After reading some of the reviews on it though I think I’ll pass. While the graphics look sweeeet, it sounds like just another off-the-shelf shooter game. Nothing really that original. The concept is cool, but the actually plot for the game sounds weak. They went also revived the idea of having a boss at the end of each level which I can do with out. I’m also considering buying Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion which I heard is fantastic, but I don’t like the idea of the auto-leveling of encounters. If you have any advice on whether to buy this game leave a comment. I need a new game to feed the beast.
