The winner at this weekend’s box office came as no surprise to me. Frank Miller’s graphic novel adaptation of 300 demolished the competition and broke records while doing so.
- “300″ $70 million
- “Wild Hogs” $28 million
- “Bridge to Terabithia” $6.9 million
- “Ghost Rider” $6.8 million
- “Zodiac” $6.77 million
- “The Number 23″ $4.33 million
- “Norbit” $4.3 million
- “Music and Lyrics” $3.8 million
- “Breach” $2.6 million
- “Amazing Grace” $2.5 million
The other new release this weekend, The Ultimate Gift, didn’t reach the top ten. I believe it was really in a semi-wide release though, which would explain it. I guess this will make 300 the first blockbuster of the year. If you didn’t get the chance to see it yet, check my review and see if it is your kind of movie.
Also, we’ll be running the box-office $$ contest again this week, so be sure to check back on that.
