Tonight begins the 3 month countdown to find the American Idol Season 6 winner. Get ready for the long haul here folks. Diana Ross will be the musical inspiration and guidance for the contestants tonight.

Brandon Rogers: “You Can’t Hurry Love”
Brandon seems to think he’s Elvis with that little knee movement, stop it.
Randy: “sounded like a backup singer… boring… you forgot the words… it’s gotta be better than that”
Paula: “we don’t need to tell you all the things you did wrong”
Simon: “complete let down… very predictable version… dancing was terrible… forgot the words… like a background singer for a background singer”
My wife: “I prefer Phil Collins’ version”. Oddly, I’d have to agree.
Wow, that was rough on all fronts!

Melinda Doolittle: “Home”
Randy: “really, really strong… Girls 1 Boys 0… that was hot”
Paula: [crying]“I’m so excited for you… this is it for you [in a good way]”
Simon: “you made a very boring song fantastic… you remind me of a young Gladys Knight”
My wife: “the thing about her is she makes it look really easy”

Chris Sligh: “Endless Love”
He’s trying to give this song a more modern feel. Not too bad at all.
Randy: “the bad part of it was that it sounded like Cold Play’s Speed of Sound”
Paula: “trying ultra hard to be ultra hip and cool… worry less about trying to fit in”
Simon: “I think you murdered the arrangement… a complete and utter drone… I thought it was unemotional, uninspiring”
My wife: “I wasn’t impressed”

Gina Glocksen: “Love Child”
Randy: “pitchy in spot… I didn’t feel any excitement… very boring to me”
Paula: “you’re much better than how you did tonight… you were shouting… pitch was off”
Simon: “wasn’t terrible, wasn’t fantastic… you chose the right song for you… forgettable”
My wife: “it was okay, I agree with the judges. Just okay”

Sanjaya Malakar: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”
I’ll see if I can type through the pain he causes me. His hair looks so awful it hurts me, literally.
Randy: “what is going down? I don’t even know what to say. It wasn’t very good, it really wasn’t. Thank God for the background singers.”
Paula: “it wasn’t that you sang on pitch, you need to grab the audience… need reckless abandon”
Simon: “I don’t know what else to say… I’ll be positive… You’re very brave.”
My wife: “I think he’s bad. It’s past time for him to go. Looks like a Pat.”

Haley Scarnato: “Loving You”
Wow, she may have done worse than Sanjaya.
Randy: “you gave it a valiant effort… forgot the words”
Paula: “forgetting the words is never a good thing to do… your pitch, ehh”
Simon: “I didn’t think it was that bad… I think we will remember you, you have real presence up there”
My wife: “uh huh, off most the song… did she forget the words?”
This girl is going to cry her way into the final six. Geez.

Phil Stacey: “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me”
Diana Ross said Phil reminded her of Marvin Gaye. Is that because Marvin Gaye is also dead?
Randy: “the performance was kinda boring, but you get the vocals award of the night”
Paula: “the vocals were really good, but the song needed to be more up tempo”
Simon: “he chose the right tempo… it was okay, I think it was a very good choice for you… like you were shouting in my ear… wasn’t outstanding, wasn’t awful”
My wife: “better than last week… his makeup is way too obvious”

Lakisha Jones: “God Bless the Child”
Randy: “wow… perfect song choice for you… unbelievable… sensational”
Paula: “beautiful performer… your heart comes through when you sing”
Simon: “you’ve got it… the quality difference between you and Melinda, you two are in a different league… you were very much in control, performed like a star”
My wife: “Just like Melinda, she makes it look really, really easy”

Blake Lewis: “You Keep Me Hanging On”
I’m just glad he didn’t do “Jimmie Walker Blue”.
Randy: “don’t worry about Blake-izing every song… let the classics be the classics”
Paula: “Difference between what you did and Chris Sligh… I think you could have a hit with that”
Simon: “I didn’t get it at all… If you heard that version in isolation you wouldn’t like it… It didnt work changing the melody like that”
My wife: “Too slow, off pitch, way too slow.”
Why is everyone pissing on musical graves tonight?

Stephanie Edwards: “Love Hangover”
Randy: “It was a good vocal, wasn’t your best vocals… I was looking for the up tempo part to start”
Paula: “Why no up tempo? [Not enough time Stephanie responded] That’s what arrangement is for”
Simon: “teased everyone with the good part and then failed to deliver… You sang an intro… You chose the wrong song”
My wife: “She just doesn’t compare to Melinda and Lakisha”

Chris Richardson: “The Boss”
Randy: “wasn’t my favorite performance of yours… it was half good, half bad for me”
Paula: “out of all the guys you nailed the blend with the contemporary… you did a great job”
Simon: “take out your charm and personality and listen to the vocals it was dreadful… I thought it was terrible, terrible”
My wife: “Boring”

Jordin Sparks: “If We Hold On Together”
Randy: “Tonight you made it a three girl race”
Paula: “You are a natural gift”
Simon: “I thought it was very, very good vocal… You have put yourself in for having a shot at the finals”
My wife: “I like her”
The judges must be tired, they got soft at the end.
