Tonight we’ll see our first of Season 6’s Top 12 go home. Tuesday’s performances left us with plenty of head-home performance. Will it be the painfully talentless Sanjaya, forgetful Brandon, or the always crying Haley? All of these are worthy of going home to be sure, but with all the surprise vote-off’s so far this season it’s too hard to tell. Personally, I was predicting Haley Scarnato to go home, but after her sob fest Tuesday night following that pitiful performance I’m thinking she’s going to end up with plenty of pity votes. Not helping matters is my prediction track record of 1W-7L, that’s as bad as Sanjaya’s perm! Speaking of the funny and absurd, check out our carefully researched and totally accurate: American Idol’s Separated at Birth collection!
Diana Ross, this week’s musical mentor, is tonight’s musical guest. The Top 12 performed Ross’ “Stop in the Name of Love” and were actually pretty good. What wasn’t so good was their massacre of Modest Mouse’s Float On, which was all one big plug for Ford. With that sort of advertising I can’t figure out why they’re possibly in so much financial trouble.
The bottom 3 (least votes) contestants were called to the center of the stage. First up, Brandon Rogers, no surprise. Second “bottom-ee”, Phil Stacey, kinda surprised considering the other performances. But before we get to the third contestant we get Diana Ross performing “I Love You More Today than Yesterday”. She’s definitely still got her voice and performing skills, which she’ll need on her upcoming tour. Check out DianaRoss.com if you’re interested.
Alright, we’re back and ready for our third “loser. Is it Haley or Sanjaya? It’s Sanjaya! So now Ryan drops one back out of the final three, Phil Stacey. So it’s either Brandon or Sanjaya. And it is… Brandon Rogers who is the first to go home on American Idol Season 6! Kudos to my wife who was wise enough to predict Brandon’s fall from grace, she just got 2 points in her bracket. I guess I should listen to her more!
Now quick! Turn off your TV or at least change the channel cause ‘Til Death is up next…
