Another weekend, another string of new movies. I’ll tell you up front, none of these look as big as last weekend’s blockbuster 300, but there is more variety to choose from (horror, comedy, and a thriller).

Dead Silence
Director: James Wan
Starring: Ryan Kwanten, Amber Valletta, Donnie Wahlberg
Rated: R for horror violence and images
Plot: A young widower returns home in order to investigate his wife’s murder, where he encounters the legend that has turned Raven’s Fair into a ghost town.
My Take: It’s from the guys who brought you all the Saw movies. The premise looks pretty bad, and most of the time they are. But if cheap slasher movies are your type of flick then give it a go. However, beware of the backlash surrounding this film!

I Think I Love My Wife
Director: Chris Rock
Starring: Chris Rock, Kerry Washington, Gina Torres
Rated: R for pervasive language and some sexual content
Plot: A man who’s married to the ultimate career woman finds his will and morals tested when he meets a free-spirited younger lady.
My Take: This looks pretty funny and Chris Rock has a very smart sense of humor in his writing and delivery. It does look like the kind of movie that’s been done plenty so hopefully he’ll put his own spin on it.

Premonition
Director: Mennan Yapo
Starring: Sandra Bullock, Julian McMahon, Amber Valletta
Rated: PG-13 for some violent content, disturbing images, thematic material, and brief language
Plot: When her husband reappears the day after he died in a car accident, a woman looks to rearrange events and prevent the tragedy from occurring.
My Take: Another thriller where the central character tries to unravel the chaos of a blurring reality. This could be good, but my confidence level is low on it.

That Dead Silence movie looks a little too creepy, even for me! I had a bad experience with a dummy movie as a child *grin*

One of the dummies/dolls that they show in the commercial looks a heck of a lot like Chucky. Surprising they would venture so close to that.

Creepy for sure, but also a little cheesy. The whole thing seems to be that you can’t scream, so the guy in the trailer is covering his mouth while he falls to keep from screaming. Now that’s dedication!

I saw the “I Think I Love My Wife”. It sucked. Totally wasn’t what I expected. 1 star of 5. It had some classic Chris Rock moments.

Really?? Well that sucks. Rock hadn’t done anything in so long I was hoping he had really been saving up for that. Thanks for taking the bullet for us on that one!

Oh that really sucks, I figured the Chris Rock movie would be awesome :(
