Not so surprising is that the 300 movie took the top place again this weekend. But for crying out loud, why did Wild Hogs get second?! Premonition came in at #3, which was the highest ranking new release for the weekend. It just barely lost out to Wild Hogs and maybe it’ll shift after the estimates become actuals. Here’s your breakdown:

1. “300,” $31.2 million.
2. “Wild Hogs,” $18.8 million
3. “Premonition,” $18 million.
4. “Dead Silence,” $7.8 million.
5. “I Think I Love My Wife,” $5.7 million.
6. “Bridge to Terabithia,” $5.1 million.
7. “Ghost Rider,” $4 million.
8. “Zodiac,” $3.1 million.
9. “Norbit,” $2.7 million.
10. “Music and Lyrics,” $2.2 million.

Well done 300, you deserve it. Corey has recommended avoiding “I Think I Love My Wife” after seeing it this weekend. I’d going to be bold enough to recommend you avoid “Dead Silence” having just seen the trailer!

300 is still pulling some pretty impressive numbers. To be honest, I didn’t even hear about it until a week after it was released, but it has been one of the best movies I’ve seen in theaters in a long time.

Yeah, to drop a little over 50% in box office earnings and still make over $30M and be #1 is really good. It snuck up on me too. I heard about it a long time ago and then totally forgot it until I saw a commercial the day before it came out. Kinda smart of them to not spend too much on advertising as word of mouth could carry this movie alone.
