Tonight the first of the Top 10 American Idol 2007 Season 6 contestants will be sent home. Before last night’s American Idol performances I never would have believed who I’d guess would be going home tonight. I’m also nearly ashamed to say that I didn’t think Sanjaya wasn’t the worst male performer of the night either.

Before I get to who I think is going home I’ll hit on the high points from last night. Both of these were surprise enjoyments for me because I haven’t been big fans of either so far this season. Phil Stacey really surprised me with a great performance of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take”. That’s right, Nosferatu Stacey was greatly improved over the last few weeks and for a change of pace I actually enjoyed his performance. He was at least near the top of the men’s performances this week. For the women, I enjoyed Gina Glocksen’s “I’ll Stand By You”. She did The Pretenders proud and gave it a strong, enthusiastic rendition. Simon put it well, “this wasn’t one of your best performances. It was your best performance.” I would have to agree with him.

Continuing with that theme of surprises last night on American Idol, the person that surprised me the most was Chris Sligh. His performance of The Police’s “Everything Little Thing She Does Is Magic” was painful to watch, both for me and Chris. He’s so much better than this. He was off tempo, he sounded out of breath, and just didn’t seem to know how to deliver this song. It was a bad selection on his part and I really think he’s going to pay the ultimate American Idol price for it. So that’s my prediction for March 28, Chris Sligh is going to be voted off American Idol 2007 Season 6 tonight.
So yes, that means I don’t think Sanjaya is going anywhere, again, this week. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want you to continue to support new our charity program: American Idol - Save the Children.
