Coming Soon will hopefully be a new weekly series where we’ll spotlight an upcoming movie that’s still several months down the road. Too many times I’ve been surprised by the sudden arrival of a movie at the theaters. Usually that means the movie stinks and they hope to avoid you noticing by not putting it out on display months in advance. Luckily for you, the authors here at Wild Bluff Media only like the best movies, and if you disagree you’re wrong. So with that settled let’s get to our first entry of Coming Soon.

Ocean’s Twelve Premiere

Ocean’s Thirteen, the third movie in the series, will reunite most of the old cast as they return to Las Vegas for another “smash and grab” adventure. George Clooney will be back as Danny Ocean, the group’s leader. Producer Steven Soderbergh is also returning to direct, so you can expect a similar feel. A new, and not totally surprising addition this time around will be Al Pacino. Also coming back to reprise their roles will be Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Andy Garcia, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, and Elliott Gould. Not returning this time around will be Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Taking over the role of the leading lady will be Ellen Barkin. Although I recognized her name I couldn’t remember the last thing I saw her in. After having checked Barkin’s profile at IMDB.com I’m still at a loss for which of her movies I’ve seen in the last decade. Either way, this time Matt Damon gets a turn as the object of affection as producer Jerry Weintraub has disclosed that Ellen Barkin’s character “gets closely involved with Damon’s character.” It looks like Ocean’s team will be joining forces with their previous enemy, Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia). Other than that the details are pretty thin, but if you liked Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve I imagine you’ll enjoy this one as well.

The release date is set to be June 8th, 2007. No rating announced yet, but the previous two films were PG-13, so you can likely expect the same again. You can take a peak at the Ocean’s Thirteen trailer below.

Update: The day after I put this out Yahoo! releases a whole new slew of HD Ocean’s Thirteen trailers. I’m so tired of Yahoo having to mimic my every move! But since my concern is for you, the dedicated Wild Bluff Media reader, I’ve added in the links to those as well. You’ll get a lot faster load time w/ the embedded trailer below though if quality isn’t as much of a concern.

Sounds good. Hopefully the come up with a better story line than 12. I sat through the movie waiting for the big twist at the end.

    Lucky number 13?
    A devilish twist perhaps!

I was kinda disappointed w/ 12. I really enjoyed 11 and then 12 seemed like they were doing it to do it. Maybe they’ll get back to the game since they know 13 will be the last one.

Good point on lucky 13, I imagine they’ll have to get that in somewhere.

[...] The video below shows them all taking it very seriously. George Clooney makes a joke about how he wouldn’t want to be on his hands and knees with any other guys. Brad Pitt does his Hollywood-cool look with his shades permanently attached. Then there’s poor Matt Damon who gets labeled on-screen by the AP as “Brad Pitt” when it’s his turn to speak.
