In an apparent struggling attempt to reclaim some level of attention in the entertainment world Alanis Morissette has put out this cover of the Black Eyed Peas’ “My Humps” from their album, Monkey Business. Clearly it’s got to be a humorous cover, or at least was intended to be. The song was so stupid in the first place though that it’s kinda hard to make it look stupid, again. Mocking a singer that pisses her pants on-stage is not much of a challenge either. I think you should leave this kind of stuff to Weird Al Yankovic. He at least bothers to write new lines for his work.
Anyone else thinks she looks like a mix between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Haylie Duff there at the start? No? Just me? Oh well.

At one time I liked Alanis Morissette, aah, her voice even made my dog leave the room. LOL Had to turn it off!

Making all of us Canadians proud. Reminds me of the good old days when she was a kid in “You Can’t Do That On Television”. Canadian TV show where people got slimed all the time. Good old fashion Canadian classic.

I used to enjoy her music too, but then she just kinda stopped doing anything. It’s not even her voice that bothers me here, but that she did this mock-cover and added nothing new.
I certainly remember You Can’t Do That On Television. They ran it on Nickelodeon way back in the day.

So is this supposed to be a shot at Fergie and the current music industry or what the hell is going on? Either way, I can’t stand it.

I have no idea. She’s definitely making fun of something, but what and why? I agree, I have no clue what point she is trying to make.

Come on guys, you can’t dis Alanis. I think she just got some friends together and had a couple of laughs, just like everyone else on youtube with a video camera and a diminished capacity for feeling embarrassment. Besides, if this were meant to be taken as a serious effort to “cover” the musical genius of My Humps, it would be all over MTV, people would be shoveling money by the walletfull into iTunes for the HD version, and my Alanis-themed alarm clock would be worth a lot more than a dollar. (even though if I were offered a million dollars to part with it, I’d probably ask if it would be ok to bite my pinky off instead)

I definitely didn’t try to take this seriously, but I was hoping for a little more “new” from here on it.
The only reason this got more attention than all the other teeny-boppers that did this at home as well was because she was already famous.
I’d rather see her bring out something new in lieu of fake naked bodysuit stunts.

I loved that show!

I really like Alanis, but that was painful to watch, I stopped it 30 seconds in. Ouch!

I actually made it to the end, but only because I left it running in the background on another tab. So that probably doesn’t count!
