Blades of Glory

Wow. Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder, did it again this weekend. They held off the competition and got the gold for the second weekend in a row. Chazz Michael Michaels is no doubt very proud of himself. That means that the four new movies this weekend most likely fell below their projected earnings. I certainly thought Grindhouse would end up in the number one spot without too much trouble, but that wasn’t even the highest ranked new release for the weekend. Perhaps we won’t be seeing as many double features coming along anytime soon.

Box office earnings for movies this weekend, April 6 - April 8:

  1. “Blades of Glory,” $23 million.
  2. “Meet the Robinsons,” $17 million.
  3. “Are We Done Yet?”, $15 million.
  4. “Grindhouse,” $11.6 million.
  5. “The Reaping,” $10.1 million.
  6. “300,” $8.8 million.
  7. “Wild Hogs,” $6.8 million.
  8. “Shooter,” $5.8 million.
  9. “TMNT,” $4.9 million.
  10. “Firehouse Dog,” $4 million.
