American Idol Stage

Tonight we are down to our Top 8 contestants for American Idol Season 6 2007. Last week we got a shocker results show when Gina Glocksen was sent home despite being accompanied to the final three by the usual suspects, Haley Scarnato and Phil Nosferatu Stacey. I had predicted Haley Scarnato to be sent home instead based upon her continued weak performances, yet I was proven wrong, again. Thankfully, it’s a new week with new performances, new results, and a new musical coach.

This week’s musical guest and coach is Jennifer Lopez. Lopez’s latest album, Como Ama una Mujer, came out just two weeks ago (March 27, 2007), so this is good timing to try and boost those sales. Since each week has followed the major theme of the musical guest I would expect to find ourselves with a Latin music night. That should provide some pretty up-tempo, exciting songs. Phil Stacey might sound like he’s alive this week (I actually liked him last week, but did agree he sounded semi-dead).

I’m interested in seeing how Melinda Doolittle and LaKisha Jones handle the theme tonight. In previous weeks these two have been nervous about fitting into particular themes (ie. British Invasion week). I think they’re both top competitors this season, but they may have trouble finding their groove with a Latin theme. Even if things go rough for Doolittle and Jones I wouldn’t expect any fatal results.

Top 8 for American Idol 2007 Season 6:

  • Haley Scarnato
  • Jordin Sparks
  • Lakisha Jones
  • Melinda Doolittle
  • Blake Lewis
  • Chris Richardson
  • Phil Stacey
  • Sanjaya Malakar

Come back tonight after the show for our American Idol April 10 performance recap. Then tomorrow I’ll share my predictions and follow that up with a results show recap.

I am 100% sure Melinda will be fine because she has proven week after week that she can sing just aboyt any style of music. Lakisha I am a little concerned about, though.

I definitely agree about Melinda. She gets worried that she won’t find something in the theme that fits her, but then she always pulls it off so incredibly well.

I’ve also been reading some concerns about LaKisha, but I really think she’s got some time before she heads home.

    We’ll see soon enough though!
