“America’s Favorite Ballroom”
Before the show it was obvious that John, Leeza, and Clyde were the prime candidates for a trip home. While I was hoping it would be Clyde, I figured he had enough of a fan base from his basketball days to stave off doom for another week. Which left John and Leeza, and I was hoping for Leeza (Go Cliffy!).
To start off the broadcast, Joey and Kym were given the judges encore for the second week in a row. This couple is obviously the couple to beat. Then the country group Big and Rich did a live perfomance of their hit “Save a horse, Ride a Cowboy” which the winning couple Drew Lachey and Cheryl danced to in season two. Drew was the surprise guest and danced with Cheryl to Big and Rich.
There was a brief intermission in the action while a couple of professional dancers did a Samba which didn’t really do anything for me. This was followed by Samantha’s big announcement that she was pregnant. Then Jimmy Kimmel did his bit on the Rumba which will be one of the dances performed next week. Big and Rich performed their new single. After that, the judges did a bit on what makes a great dancer which even thoug it was interesting I could have done without it. Essentially all of this was nothing but filler. I went through all of this to prove my point that DWTS needs to go with the 30 minutes result show like American Idol. Otherwise, I’m going to start just Tivoing the last ten minutes so that I can watch Deadliest Catch live.
Leeza and John ended up under the red lights in the bottom two. No surprise there. Leeza and Tony took the long ride home (Go Cliffy!). I dont think it will really get interesting for a couple more weeks until Clyde and John go home unless Billy Ray blows it earlier than expected which, I doubt. Next week the Samba and the Rumba!
