American Idol Top 8

Tonight on American Idol it’s time for the Results Show where we’ll send home another contestant. Then we’ll be left with our Top 7 for Season 6 and welcome in the Final 7 performers for 2007. This week’s musical guest and coach is Jennifer Lopez, and she’ll be showing off a song from her latest album, Como Ama una Mujer I’ve made my Top 9 Vote Off Prediction, but I’m not entirely confident on that one. I’m glad we’ve got a situation here with a little mystery. Well it might not have been the worst Sanjaya performance, but let me remind you of our American Idol Charity.

The group performance tonight is much better than some of them in the past. Despite predicting Phil Stacey’s demise I think he’s got a much better voice than Chris Richardson and this song really showcased that. I think what’s really hurting Phil is that he’s not a terribly. I did note earlier that I thought Richardson had the worst performance yesterday, but I doubt that he’ll be the one going home tonight.

Our first guest performer is Akon and he’s singing “Don’t Matter”. He’s back and I think he’s laughing at the old people pretending to dance. This was a pretty good performance.

So the group song/commercial tonight is “Happy Together”. Sadly the whole thing is a big rip off of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” where the people are bopping their heads and turn to the side and then morph into the next person. That’s exactly what they did here tonight. These commercials stink already, do they have to rip off material?

“Even in Africa they think you need a bra,” said Ryan Seacrest to Simon Cowell. There was a very entertaining clip for the American Idol Charity “Idol Gives Back” where Simon was talking with some schoolchildren in Africa. One of the little girls showed off her picture of Simon with some clearly detailed breasts. Poor Simon, he has man-boobs.

Looking at the seating patterns, Haley Scarnato, Phil Stacey, and Lakisha Jones are all seated in a group. That looks dangerous for them. Let’s see if they are in the bottom three. The first person announced to be in the bottom three is… Nosferatu Phil Stacey. Lakisha Jones… safe! Jordin Sparks… safe. Sanjaya Malaka… is asked to sit down, Ryan is coming back to him. Melinda Doolittle… safe, no surprise there. Haley Scarnato… is once again in the bottom three. Sanjaya… is once again asked to sit down. Blake Lewis… also safe. Chris Richardson and Sanjaya are standing up, and the third person in the bottom three is… Chris Richardson!

Earlier I stated that Chris Richardson had the worst performance last night. I really didn’t expect America to step up and do the right thing though. I guess I should have stuck to my guns here.

Jennifer Lopez Marc Anthony

Okay, one of them gets sent back to the sofa… Chris Richardson is sent back. So he must have been in spot #3. Tonight either Haley Scarnato or Phil Stacey will be going home. But before we find out here comes Jennifer Lopez to perform as this week’s musical guest. It’s a great performance and fun song, but I took French in high school instead of Spanish, so I’m not totally sure what the song is about. Probably something to do with her obsession of Sanjaya.

Here is the video of Jennifer Lopez’s performance tonight on American Idol:

Okay, that might not have been the actual performance, but it’s the best I could do on the same night as her appearance!

Haley Scarnato

And finally, the results are in. 35 million votes and the result is… Haley Scarnato is going home tonight. Well, I was wrong and am disappointed. Haley was much prettier than Phil!

Here’s the video of the “Turn the Beat Around” performance that sent Haley Scarnato home:

Aw crap. My wife watches the show every week which means I end up having to watch the show too and now with 8 weeks to go there isn’t a single attractive woman left! If the show was on Radio I would understand voting Haley out but on TV that just doesn’t make sense to me. I guess I can only blame myself because I have never picked up the phone to vote.

Yeah, this stinks. The prettiest girl left now is Sanjaya!

My wife and I were sitting here watching this with her chanting “send home Haley” and me pleading “send home Phil”. Why am I surprised that she got what she wanted??

  3. WildBluffWalt

Seriously, why did they have to send her home. Its going to be a long 7 weeks.
