Halloween 2007

For some unknown reason Halloween, John Carpenter’s legendary horror flick from 1978, is being remade for a release later this year, probably right around… Halloween. You’d think they’d put this out at Halloween, but instead they’ve chosen to go with the end of August. Sure, that makes sense, because late August reminds everyone of Halloween much more so than October would. Sheesh.

The plot looks to be very similar, of course, but with an added thread of Michael searching for his baby sister. That kinda gives him a heart and emotions, which is the complete opposite of what his character was in the original. Correct me if I’m wrong on that not being in the original.

Here is the Halloween remake plot, according to the very reliable IMDB.com:

After young Michael Myers killed his older sister one Halloween night he was committed for 15 years to a mental institution were he soon broke out and is in search for his little sister Laurie Strode as he returns back to his home town Haddonfield and finds his sister she and hers friends must put up a battle to survive as Michael Myers tries to kill them.

I think it’s kinda dangerous to be doing a remake of such a well established cult movie. I’ll still probably see it, but I still think it’s risky.

The new cast is going to include:

  • Malcolm McDowell - Dr. Loomis
  • Brad Dourif - Sheriff Leigh Brackett
  • Daeg Faerch - Young Michael Myers
  • Tyler Mane - Adult Michael Myers
  • Scout Taylor-Compton - Laurie Strode
