Disturbia took over the #1 place this weekend at the movie box office with $23 million. Not the best box office, but considering Disturbia was a low budget movie they’re likely very pleased, especially considering the movie competition it had to fight.
Disturbia, starring Shia LaBeouf and Sarah Roemer, was a loosely based remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window featuring a teenage protagonist seeking out a potentially disturbing truth about his mysterious neighbor. Blades of Glory held on to a high spot at #2, with $14 million, after two weeks in the number one spot. Grindhouse continued its disappointing performance by dropping to #10, earning $4.2 million. The Bruce Willis and Halle Berry thriller, The Perfect Stranger, also gave a lackluster debut falling in at #4.
