“America’s Favorite Ballroom”
This week the couples dance to either the Samba or the Rumba. Next week the couples have to perform twice, once for the competition, and once in a group dance. So all of the remaining couples will need to learn two dances. Tomorrow during the results show Macy Gray will perform. Here are this weeks dances:
Samba - Sizzling hips, Samba Rolls, and Rhythmic walks
Rumba - Slow and Seductive, Slow Spins, Sensual Rumba Walks
Ian Ziering & Cheryl Burke
Dance: Samba
This season they seemed to enjoy showing the couples arguing. This week it was Ian and Cheryl. Ian was having some difficulty with shimiing. He was Mr. McStiffy again in practice. I thought they looked really good in their actual routine dancing to Shakira. Len thought they were just compitent, didn’t really think they stepped up and really need to work on their performace. Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24
Clyde Drexler & Elena Grinenko
Dance: Rumba
Clyde thought the judges were a little harsh on him last week saying that he lacked commitment. Clyde vowed to prove them wrong so, the pressure was on this week. Clyde did not live up to his vow. Their performance was terrible. Clyde basically stood their while Elena danced around him. Bruno described it as, “…a rumba under an anesthetic.” Carrie Ann laid it all out there stating, “You’re the worst dancer in the competition.” Len actually thought it wasn’t all that bad. He at least felt Clyde tried. They also did a lift which is illegal in the Rumba. These two have to go home this week. If he doesn’t we’ll be calling Clyde the new Sanjaya.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 4
Len Goodman: 5
Bruno Tonioli: 4
Total: 13 (Well deserved)
Heather Mills & Jonathan Roberts
Dance: Samba
One more reason to dislike Heather. She made Jonathon wax his chest to get the whole latin look. The dress she had on this week really showed off her fake leg. I didn’t really think there performance this week was very smooth and definitely a little over done. At the end of the routine Heather finally wiped out. The judges just played up her oneleggedness to cover her fall although Carrie still intended to take a point off for the fall.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson
Dance: Rumba
This is the first slow song they have performed. I think they danced to the same song Sanjaya sang on last weeks American Idol. Wow, they were really good. Don’t be surprised if they win. Joey did a great job getting into character. The audience gave them a standing ovation. Len called Joey “have a Go Joe” and described him as “a little too feminine”. Carrie felt this was because he over performed it. Bruno violently disagreed.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 25
John Ratzenberger & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Samba
John was displeased with the judges comments last week calling them “Playground taunting,” as opposed to constructive criticism. You could tell John tried really hard and Edyta looked really hot but, it wasn’t great. He is very heavy on his feet. Oh, and the disco music was bad. The judges liked it except for John’s footwork. Bruno called it, “One of the best, worst Sambas I ever saw.”
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 6
Bruno Tonioli: 6
Total: 18 (Ooh, only a week or two to go)
Laila Ali & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Rumba
Her voice is so deep, maybe Joey should learn from her how to be less feminine. I wasn’t a big fan of the music but, Laila pulled it off. I think she really managed to make the dance look very hot and sensual. The judges agreed. Len called it her best perfomance of the competition.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 28 (Looks like Laila might be giving Joey a run for his money)
Apolo Ohno & Julianne Hough
Dance: Samba
Super hot. Apolo did a good job… I think. I had alittle trouble concentrating on him with Julianne in her ultra short tight tiger dress. The Samba is Julianne’s favorite dance. The judges raved about this performance. Carrie Ann said it best, “Perfection.”
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 30 (PERFECTION!)
Billy Ray Cyrus & Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Rumba
We closed the show the same way we started it with a nice intro with the couple bickering. Billy Ray was really busy this week so they didn’t have much time to practice and it showed. Billy Ray didn’t have many moves, and I think he earned the title of Mr. McStiffy this week. Judges really didn’t buy the romance but did feel that he had put the effort in.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 6
Bruno Tonioli: 5
Total: 17 (Not good but, I think Clyde and John will still go first before Billy Ray)
