Warning this post contains spoilers (not that there was much to spoil). This is one of those classic Sopranos episodes. You know the ones, they look great in the previews but then when you watch it nothing really happens. The whole is hour is just setting stuff up for future episodes.

The episode begins with a nice gory scene from Christopher’s mafia, horror flick, Cleaver. Ok. Then we check in with Johnny Sack to see how he’s doin’. Turns out, not so good. His doc gives him 3 months to live and bemoans the fact that finally in the joint he has cleaned up his act, quit smoking, eats healthy, exercises, etc. and now he gets cancer. Then we cut to a nice family dinner at the Sopranos where they are discussing the premiere of Christopher’s movie (Last week I swore AJ looked like he 30, did you notice he looked about 13 this week?).

Johnny Sack-R.I.P.

Then Johnny Sack befriends a nice orderly (played by Sydney Pollack) who turns out to be an oncologist who killed his wife, and her aunt, and the mailman. Tony gets a visit from his buddy in the FBI’s task force on terrorism. You see where I’m going with this? This is how the whole episode was. Lots of stuff is going on but, nothing is really happening.

Here are the three things you need to know from this episode:

1. Tony is convinced that Christopher hates him and wants him dead. This is Carm’s fault. She ID’d the mafia boss in the movie as Tony. In the movie the boss wacks the cleaver so that he can sleep with his fiancee. Carm reads this as Christopher believing Tony and Adriana had a thing and the movie is his revenge fantasy.

2. There is a shake-up in the New York family. Jerry the heir to the throne gets gunned down during a nice dinner with Silvio. Phil, the current boss has decided that it was time he stopped getting disrespected. Could the families finally go to war after they’ve been building up to it all these seasons? I’m sure we’ll have to wait a few more episodes to find out.

3. Johnny Sack dies -R.I.P.
