Donald Trump Ivanka Trump

“Out of a million applicants we’re down to four.” - Trump

Last week Kristine and Heidi were both fired for their shortcomings in the Trump Tower marketing task. Afterwards, we saw all remaining candidates move back into the house and Tent City was closed to much relief. Interestingly, all remaining candidates were members of the original team Arrow which spent the first few weeks in Tent City. That’s quite a turn around.

This week the final four contestants: Nicole, James, Stefani, and Frank; were all treated to a special dinner with the past winners of The Apprentice. Here they quizzed them over the best practices and tactics that could take them to the winner’s circle. Previous winner Kelly was well informed and detailed out the last task for them. They were grouped into pairs: Stefani and James; Nicole and Frank. Each pair broke away and chose two previously fired candidates to return and support them on their next objective. Stefani and James (S&J) chose Aaron and Angela. Nicole and Frank (N&J) chose Tim and Surya. Most humorous was the reunion for Nicole and Frank. Nicole was thrilled to have Tim back in her arms and Frank took the opportunity to cry and explain to Surya how much he wanted him back on their team. Sobbing over another dude didn’t really flow with Frank’s projected tough guy image. It was pretty funny.

Frank Nicole Team

With both teams assembled Trump presented their final obstacle. They had to film a 60 second commercial for Renuzit, an air freshner, kinda like Febreze. The teams had real prop sets and actors and each side filmed very different commercials. S&J chose a courtroom setting where a husband had to defend against his wife’s accusations of stinking up the house. Lucky for the husband, he used Renuzit and the scent expert for the prosecution couldn’t detect any odors. The commercial sounds kinda boring, but it was actually pretty good and entertaining. The showcased the product well and had an actual ending with the bottle of air freshener on display next to the slogan. The other team N&F decided to use a working mom theme who saves her meeting by spraying her smoke covered jacket with Renuzit and then goes to the hospital and sprays a bum in the next bed that is stinking up her son’s room. Um, yeah. The hospital theme was not a happy thought and the commercial was disjointed between the multiple settings. N&F, however, did verbally detail out the benefits and uses of Renuzit it much better than S&J, but I just didn’t like their commercial.

James Stefani Team

So who won? Trump didn’t decide. Instead he sent both teams home on a brief vacation for one week. At least that’s one week in TV land. All four contestants: Nicole, James, Stefani, and Frank; will return next week for the live finale show where one will be crowned Trump’s next Apprentice.

What?! Making a 60 second commercial was the final task? That was easier than some of the other tasks we’ve seen this season. This has to be the weakest final task ever. What happened to arranging celebrity appearances, charity events, and sporting events facing nasty weather and uncooperative guests?! This was a total cop-out for Trump and the show. Four people are heading to the final show instead of the usual two. Does he plan on making up for last year where he almost hired two people but then got shut down by Randall? I think Trump is getting soft in his old age. Ivanka needs to seize this moment and stage a coup to overthrow her father and take the throne for her own!

The finale for this season of The Apprentice will air next Sunday (4/22) at 10pm EST. I’m going to go ahead and predict Frank “The Mouth” as our next Apprentice. Trump is going to be biased towards Frank because of their hometown similarities. He also can’t shut up about “what a fighter Frank is.” What do you think?

[...] season: Nicole, James, Stefani, and Frank. I said it last week and I’ll say it again, that final task of making a 60 second commercial was a total joke and didn’t even result in anyone getting fired. [...]
