Starting positions:
1. Oswald and Danny (O&D)
2. Dustin and Kandace (D&K)
3. Charla and Mirna (C&M)
4. Eric and Danielle (E&D)
The teams left Hong Kong and had to travel to Macau, China by turbo ferry where they would receive their next clue from rickshaw man. From there they had to travel to tallest structure in Macau, the Macau tower. At the top of the tower was a Yield which would allow the first team to arrive to force the team of their choice to wait until an hour glass expires before the can continue.
No surprise, O&D arrived first but the tower hadn’t opened yet. They were short on funds having completed the last leg of the race with nothing and spending over $60 of their $73 getting to the tower. D&K arrived next and were waiting in line behind O&D. So, O&D decide to extort a little cash from the girls. D&K can pay them cash to not yield someone else instead of them. So D&K payed O&D $45 to yield E&D instead of them. Danny didn’t feel comfortable about this but they did it anyway. C&M arrived shorty there after and just offered the guys them cash to be nice.
At the top of the tower was a Road Block. : One of the team members had to walk around the outside of the observation deck and then jump on a descending line 660ft to the ground. Holy cow. There is no way you could pay me to do that. I’m too much of a coward to even go up on my roof. The girls went first, completed the road block without a problem and were quickly on their way.
While the girls were handling the road block O&D were chatting with C&M. Danny made it sound like it was D&K’s idea to buy their yield and that they only did it because they were so desperate for money when in fact it was much closer to extortion. It was O&D’s idea and D&K did it mainly because if they didn’t D&O were going to yield them. Although, they did need the money really bad. I thought it was a good game play and quick thinking but, don’t lie about it. Oswald completed it for the guys and Charla did it for the girls. Charla was just finishing up when E&D arrived. Eric was so bitter when he found out about the yield. He was really pissed at O&D. I believe the term he used was “Pieces of $#!+”.
From the Macau Tower, teams traveled by taxi to the Lou Lim Loc gardens to find next clue which, was a detour. The teams had a choice of two tasks to complete:
Noodles - Goto a noodle factory and make two bundles of noodles by hand.
Dragon - Get a drum and dragon’s head then carry them to a pier attached the head to the dragon boat and hand the coxwain the drum.
Here’s how the choices broke down:
D&K - Noodles
O&D - Dragon
C&M - Noodles
E&D - Noodles
After flattening, and rolling the dough, you had to ride large bamboo pole up and down to flatten dough before slicing them. It was fun watching the beauty queens do this. Although all of the noodle teams had trouble making the noodles. They sliced them too thick. D&K and C&M had to repeat the whole process twice. E&D learned from this and made their noodles thin close enough to the start that they got away with only making the noodles once. D&K arrived first and finished first. E&D finished second while C&M had to make another batch.
After picking up their drum and dragon head, O&D got lost and could not find the pier. Hell, they couldn’t even find a body of water larger than a puddle. Watching them run around Macau with this giant drum and a dragon’s head was pretty amusing.
The final challenge was to take a taxi to pick up a Mini Moke. What is a Mini Moke I hear you ask. Well, it’s kind of cross between a boxy little jeep and that thing Mr. Roarke used to take the guest around in n Fantasy Island. With the Mini Mokes the teams would then drive themselves to the pit stop on Taipa island. C&M picked up their Mini Moke third and couldn’t drive it to save their lives. Only the able driving ability of D&K prevented further comment on women drivers. Not that they had it easy. Marna couldn’t drive a stick, the steering wheel on the wrong side, then she hit a pole and couldn’t get it into reverse to back away from the pole with the traffic honking all around them in the back ground. They finally found some guy to help them and then let them follow him to Taipa
D&K were obviously team number one. Winning themselves a pair of wave runners. E&D were the second team to arrive but, because they were the last team to arrive in the previous leg, they had to wait 30 minutes before Phil would check them in. With over 15 of their 30 minutes remaining C&M arrived and were checked in as team number two. It was close as O&D seemed to be pulling in with 3 minutes still remaining. E&D were team number three after their 30 minutes expired. O&D were the last team to arrive. This was the last non-elimination leg. |They were so lucky. O&D must now arrive at the next pit stop first or incur the same 30 minute penalty that E&D did this week. Can you say poetic justice? Oh, and way to string it out another week CBS.
