Whoa. The movies this weekend did not do well at all. I’m stunned by the low turn out. That could have had a lot to do with the weather finally acting like it is spring and nearly summer instead of mid-winter. Disturbia managed to hold off all four new films this weekend and retain its spot as the #1 movie with a mere $13.5 million. My pick of the weekend came in at #6 with a very sad $5.8 million. I can’t imagine that’ll be strong encouragement for them to be making more of these despite how good Shaun of the Dead was. I would have expected In the Land of Women do to worse than $4.9M considering the overall box office performance.
Box office earnings for movies this weekend, April 20 - April 22:
- “Disturbia,” $13.5 million.
- “Fracture,” $11.2 million.
- “Blades of Glory,” $7.8 million.
- “Vacancy,” $7.6 million.
- “Meet the Robinsons,” $7.1 million.
- “Hot Fuzz,” $5.8 million.
- “Are We Done Yet?”, $5.2 million.
- “In the Land of Women,” $4.9 million.
- “Perfect Stranger,” $4.1 million.
- “Wild Hogs,” $2.9 million.
