Amazing Race All Stars

Starting positions:
1. Dustin and Kandace (D&K)
2. Charla and Mirna (C&M)
3. Eric and Danielle (E&D)
4. Oswald and Danny (O&D)

Teams begin this leg by catching the ferry back to Macau. From Macau, they had to fly to the island of Guam in the South Pacific. There they had drive themselves to Andersen AFB, where a military escort would take them to the control tower. At the top of which they would receive their next clue.

D&K was the only team to make the 3 o’clock ferry back to Macau. C&M and E&D were not far behind them on the 4 o’clock ferry. On the way to the airport as they are trying to get the taxi driver to understand where they want to go, Mirna makes the politically correct statement, “…do the right accent, it makes all the difference”. Charming as always. No surprise, D&K are the 1st to airport and 1st booked a flight to Guam. Not that it really mattered since C&M and E&D ended up on the same flight. O&D caught up to the other teams in Tokyo during the layover their so all four teams started dead even when they reached Guam. The for teams were still even when the reached the Airforce Base, because they had to wait until 0700 (7AM) for the military escorts to show up.

Detour:
Once they reached the top of the control tower the teams had a choice of two detours:

Care Package - Fill a care package with 500lb of essentials for locals on neighboring island, then board a plane to help deliver package during a training flight. Easy but the flight takes 30 minutes.
Engine Care - Scour clean the underside of a B-52 (thats a big plane).

B52

D&K - Engine Care
E&D - Engine Care
O&D - Engine Care
C&M - Care Package

C&M packed 2 boxes quickly then took the flight. They definitely had it easy compared to the other teams. Scrubbing the B-52s was brutal. The sergeant in charge wouldn’t let a single spot pass no matter how small. The work was obviously exhausting and frustrating. Each team must have called over the sergeant half a dozen times. D&K finished first again. It took E&D and O&D a little longer to finish but they eventually did too and were on their way. C&M may have had it easy and gotten a cool ride on a C-17 Globemaster but because the training exercise took so long they ended up in fourth place.

Road Block:
From the Airforce Base, Teams drove themsleves to the US Naval Base to take part in a Search and Rescue (SAR) training mission. One team member had to use a GPS device to find a downed pilot in the jungle, then go to the Landing Zone (LZ), pop a smoke grenade, and then get picked up by a Navy Blackhawk helicopter.

D&K started first and finished first again (They are a tough team to beat). Danielle had to do it, since Eric had already completed all the Road Blocks he was allowed to for the race. Surprisingly Charla did this one as well. Both Charla and Danielle had a hell of a time completing this. Charla kept touching the screen of the GPS device messing it up. Her naval escort kept yelling at her to stop touching the screen. Danielle got totally lost and spent the second half of her hike through the jungle in tears. Danielle actually managed to make it back in second. They made it look like a race between Charla and Oswald to see who would complete the Road Block in third. I don’t like Charla but at least she was running at least. Oswald finished in fourth and frankly he deserved it. He walked the entire Road Block. Even when he could see the LZ he still just walked. Come on man, if you want that million you have to earn it. O&D were in fourth place and with their 30 minute penalty, they really didn’t stand much chance.

Pit Stop
The Pit Stop for this leg of the race was historic Fort Solidad. Teams had to drive themselves from the Naval Base to the Pit Stop. D&K were team number one (I know you’re shocked). The ladies won themselves a pair of ATVs. E&D were team number two. C&M were team number three. (That sucks, I can’t stand them.) O&D were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from the race (I know, also shocking). So that makes your final three teams:

1. Dustin and Kandace
2. Eric and Danielle
3. Charla and Mirna

When they were interviewed at the end of the show, O&D said that they would be rooting for C&M to win. Danny stated, “They are a class act”. To which I have to reply “What? Danny obviously has no idea what class is”.

Next week the Season Finale!
