Conan O’Brien

I’ve never been a fan of Jay Leno. He’s not bad I guess, I just think he’s too nice. If Britney Spears walked out to his couch after just having shaved her head Jay would have done his little bobblehead thing and told her how nice she looked. David Letterman would have had a field day instead and it’d have been hilarious. It blows my mind that Leno gets better ratings than David Letterman. Leno’s best things are when he does the “Jay Walking” where he highlights morons and the typos in the paper. Neither of those things involve him having to be funny, instead he just uses humor provided by others. But Letterman isn’t the one that’s going to save NBC’s The Tonight Show, instead it’ll be up to another man.

Stuck in his time slot shadow since 1993 is the fantastic Conan O’Brien. The man is a comic genius and deserves the Tonight Show spot for himself starting, well, tonight. Unfortunately we’ve still got about 2 more years to go before that’ll happen though. Conan recently stopped by and chatted with Jay about this changing of the guard.

“It’s years away,” O’Brien quipped, adding that rather than succeed Leno in 2009 as planned, he’s decided to take the job
Rosie O’Donnell is leaving on daytime television’s “The View.”

“I got the call this morning from Barbara Walters,” he said, adding he planned to pick up where O’Donnell leaves off and begin picking on Donald

See, that’s funny. What does Jay Leno say back?

Leno joked that the redheaded O’Brien has “got the hair” for the part, although “it’s going the wrong way” to really match Trump’s elaborate comb-over.

Not so funny. Another boring, lame joke that doesn’t even make sense. “It’s going the wrong way.” Huh? What does that even mean. Ugh. Maybe if I start tearing the sheets off my little Dilbert calendar 2 days at a time I can fool time and speed up this process.

Really? I thought I was nuts and that the rest of the world just had different tastes than I do. Guess I was wrong! I agree. Sorry, Jay. Conan’s got something. Don’t know what that something is… an illness? :) He’s just nuts! The crazie the better is how I see it.

Glad to hear it. I was interested in hearing if I was isolated on this opinion. Jay’s a real nice guy, and nothing personal, he’s just not my kind of humor.

I think you’re right on about the Conan and crazy. He’s got a lot of energy and that really keeps my interest in his show. I’m really ready for him to take the prime spot in 2 years.

If Conan was an acquaintance, he’d be the last one I’d want to rely on for anything important. He’s snide, and seems not to respect or value other human beings– he’s a stand-up comedian, but not a stand-up guy. I guess in a bitter, polarized country, where civility is circling the drain, Conan is the perfect talk-show host. He should go to CBS and succeed the similarly cynical Letterman. Good amusement for the shallow, self-absorbed, ironic types who worry more about appearing sophisticated than with making positive contributions to society.
Ferguson is way funnier and way more decent.
