Viacom, that wonderful company seeking $1 billion in damages from our beloved YouTube, is now planning to make collectibles from their shows available for purchase. This isn’t anything particularly innovative as movies have been selling stage props for years, bringing in even more revenue to a bloated system that keeps churning out winners like Next. So if you’ve ever wanted, like say, the mystery cases carried by the models on Deal or No Deal then you are in luck. Just the mystery cases though, models not included, sorry. Here are the details from NewsVine:
Delivery Agent Inc. announced Wednesday a deal covering cable channels owned by Viacom Inc., adding to deals it already has with 100 individual shows on The Walt Disney Co.’s ABC, General Electric Co.’s NBC and film producers such as The Weinstein Co.The company’s Web site, seenon.com, sells products shown on TV shows and movies. Viewers of the British Open golf tournament, for instance, could buy the same type of shirt worn by players such as Tiger Woods.
Revenue from the sales is shared with the networks or producers.
Well that’s good. I get so worried about those networks and producers. Sometimes I decide that I don’t need the brand name cereal and instead get Cheery-Oh’s so I can send an extra dollar to the “save the networks and producers” charity fund.
Personally, I’m still holding out for my dream of owning that sexy, sexy blue night gown worn by Beatrice Arthur in countless episodes of The Golden Girls. So very, very hot.
