Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Man! See what I did there? 3 Spider-Man’s cause it’s Spider-Man 3 time. Woohoo! Well it’s no surprise that Spidey 3 is coming out today. Sony has spent millions and millions on the production and subsequent marketing of this film. It should also come as no surprise that only one movie is going up against it, which is good for it so they can just blame its inevitable poor debut on Peter Parker. But you’ll see all that in a meeting. We’ll no doubt see a massive improvement over last week’s complete bomb of a box office top mark of $9 million. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see ten times that number for the ol’ web slinger over the weekend.
Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, May 4 - 6.

Spider-Man 3
Director: Sam Raimi
Starring: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Topher Grace
Genre: Action/Adventure, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Adaptation and Sequel
Rated: PG-13 for sequences of intense action violence
Duration: 2h 20m
Plot: Peter Parker (Maguire), a.k.a. Spider-Man, faces a series of new challenges and threats as he embraces public adulation for the first time. His new-found self confidence causes him to take his relationships for granted — namely his union with M.J. (Dunst), which is tested by the presence of the doting Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard). Self-assuredness also comes into play as he faces not one, but two powerful villains: Sandman (Church), an escaped convict made powerful by a nuclear explosion, and Venom (Grace), a parasitic life form from our hero’s past.
My Take: Can’t go wrong here. We’ve got the same core cast with the same director, so the feel is going to be very consistent this third time around. I’m looking forward to the dark side of Peter coming out with his symbiotic suit and the eventual appearance of Venom as a result. Get your fill now though kiddies as the actors have spent plenty of time going on about how they don’t plan to be around for the 4th movie.
Spider-Man 3 Movie Trailer:

Lucky You
Director: Curtis Hanson
Starring: Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore, Robert Duvall
Genre: Drama
Rated: PG-13 for some language and sexual humor.
Duration: 2h 4m
Plot: Professional card player Huck Cheever (Bana) tries to beat the odds (and his own demons) at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
My Take: This looked like one that had been sitting on a shelf for awhile, and considering the release date (the only one standing up against Spider-Man 3) it indicates to me that I’m right. The plot looks weak and seems to just try to ride the coat tails of poker’s popularity right now. I’m not surprised to see Barrymore here, but Duvall and Bana?? Well especially Duvall, but Bana has gotta cut out these low grade films and focus on fewer, better roles to get the respect he deserves. But hey, we’ve all got bills to pay.
