The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentleman: Results and Review

Tonight the four remaining girls take Andy for a visit to their home town! Then Andy narrows the field to three.

At the start of the show Andy talked about how he was feeling about each of the girls:

Danielle: Andy thought she was thr most invested which surprised me. The past few weeks he hasn’t seemed to spend as much time on her as he does the other girls. Andy was concerned because he couldn’t get a good feeling if she would end up as a friend or a partner for life.

Amber: He likes her alot but cannot get over her age. He usually hates to date younger women. Seeing her with children on charity date helped him feel more comfortable about this.

Bevin: All Andy could talk about was the chemistry he had with Bevin. He “feels an electric charge whenever he sees her.” I question whether there is an actual romantic bond with Bevin or just this physical charge. I’m not sure there is enough there for a true long term relationship. Although I think Bevin is one of the two most likely winners.

Tessa: Andy started by describing Tessa as mature and sophisticated. He loves the way she makes him feel. Andy’s one concern is that she hasn’t put her heart out there. He stated flat out that would like to establish a long term romantic relationship with her. In my opinion, Tessa can have Andy if she wants him. He has really strong feelings for her, stronger than for the other girls but, I’m not sure Tessa is really into him.

Hometown Visit 1: Bevin (Seattle, WA)
Visited the water falls near her home where she and her friends spent lots of time when she was growing up. Andy asked if he was the first guy she had taken to the falls. She said yes but, it didn’t sound too convincing to me. This was where Bevin finally let Andy in in her past marriage. She blamed it on her being young. Andy was surprised and was obviously concerned because he doesn’t want someone who doesn’t take marriage as seriously as he does. Andy got along very well with Bevin’s family. He liked them and they liked him. Score for Bevin. Meeting the parents may have helped to balance out her divorce for Andy.

Hometown Visit 2: Danielle (Bethel, CT)
Her family seemed very concerned for Danielle. No doubt with the death of her boyfriend in college and the fact that she still lives at home they were being even more protective than other parents. Other than that her family is a little different. Dad taught him to play the drums and her mom taught him to belly dance. While I think they had a nice time. Andy didn’t really click with Danielle’s family the way he did with Bevin’s. Now having seen him with her family I really can’t see him ending up with Danielle.

Hometown Visit 3: Tessa (Washington, DC)
Tessa and Andy met downtown on the mall in DC. They played in the snow for a bit before she took him up to what looked like Georgetown to meet her family and her best friend. It was all fun and games with her family until Tessa left to go change for dinner. Then he was alone with them the grilled him. The poor guy was sweating bullets. All they were missing was the rubber hose and the hot lights. Her friend especially didn’t like the way Andy tried to avoid the tougher questions. When Tessa’s Dad and Andy were alone Tessa’s Dad almost blew it for her telling Andy that Tessa went on the show just for fun. Andy decided he needed to know exactly where Tessa stood. Andy had to work hard, but he finally got Tessa to admit that she wants to fall in love with him and he told her the same. Andy is so into Tessa. He really has strong feelings for her. Tessa is going to win.

Hometown Visit 4: Amber (Sugar Land, TX)
They started the date by visiting Amber’s classroom and meeting her class. Amber is really good with kids. I have to say I found it really attractive too. Amber has a very rocky relationship with her family. Ambers parents were not supportive of Amber being on the show and refused to meet Andy. Amber wanted Andy to meet her Aunt instead but, she couldn’t amke it. So Amber took Andy to her apartment and they had dinner with Amber’s roommate. This did not go well. The dynamic between Amber and her roommate really highlighted the age gape for Andy. Amber’s Aunt did manage to make a surprise appearance towards the end of dinner. Andy and Amber’s Aunt had a long one on one chat. Amber’s Aunt helped convince Andy that Amber was mature, stable, and ready to move on to the next stage of her life. I wasn’t convinced but, then I’m not the one she has to convince :).

Rose Ceremony:
There was no pre-rose cocktail party tonight.

Rose

Roses:
1. Tessa
2. Bevin
3. Danielle

The girl who did not receive a rose was:
Amber

Amber

Apparently Andy wasn’t convinced either. He has to be the most perceptive bachelor ever. Amber was very hurt. Amber could not understand why and wanted to know. Andy felt there age difference was too great. Amber called him on this since he told her in the hot tub that age didn’t matter. So he back pedaled on this but that was the real reason. She asked Andy if it was because of her family. Which I think, he truthfully denied. He finally just told her that they did have a connection but that his connection with the other girls was stronger. That was weak. There was no doubt that their ages were the reason he sent her home.

Next week: Andy takes the girls to his home in Hawaii and shows them his home and life in the navy.

Andy seems like a smart guy. How can he realistically expect these girls to really fall in love under such superficial conditions. Ideal dating conditions, exotic locales. There is no way to evaluate how they react to life’s problems. Do they really love children - or do they have to say they do? A little more reality before making such a choice in life. There is too much divorce all ready—-

I’ve gotta agree with you. It’s hard to believe they take this anymore seriously than any other reality show. If the show was just intended to be a matching game for single, good-looking folks looking for a relationship that’d be one thing. But when it goes as far as getting married that’s kinda scary.

Anyone know how many of these past seasons have resulted in marriage, and from those how many are still married?

  3. Sheila

I think the only “success” of the series is that Trisha (the Batchelorette) and Ryan are still married.

I think Amber may have been the most heartbroken of any girl on the show. I did feel bad for her. She was crying so hard! I actually shed a tear for her. Bless her heart!

  4. Matt

Well that’s good for Trisha and Ryan.

I heard Andy say in an interview that this season ended with a ring. I’m kinda hoping for it to be something more along the lines of a promise ring though. I think they’ve done that before, haven’t they?
