Over the weekend, Chris Albrecht, Chairman and CEO of HBO, was arrested jailed, and eventually fired. While I wish I could say this was because of his decisions to end Rome, Deadwood, and the Sopranos (which are heinous crimes in my book), it wasn’t. While in Las Vegas with his girlfriend at the MGM, Albrecht got drunk and had a ‘physical altercation’ with her (an even worse crime). The police showed up and hauled him off.
Mr. Albrecht then wisely decided, probably for PR reasons, to take a leave of absence from the network. However, our ever vigilant media, never one to allow a pass transgression to slip by unnoticed, came to the rescue. The LA Times broke the story that about 16 years ago Albrecht had a similar incident with another girlfriend. What had been a blip on the radar now appears to be a trend. And so, yesterday Time-Warner, HBO’s parent company, asked Albrecht to take more permanent leave of absence. While I still plan on canceling my subscription to HBO in a few weeks after the last episode of the Sopranos, perhaps HBO can use this opportunity to enlist a new chief who will be able to keep quality programs on HBO.

It’s almost hard to believe with a mug shot so sweet and innocent!

I detect envy and jealousy from Walt. Were you an HBO reject?
It’s unreal the way you media folks go for the jugular…..You are a nobody and pales in comparison to Chris. I see you take great pleasure in celebrating Chris’s mishap, but have no fear, your day is coming. “Judge not less ye be judged.”

That’s an interesting take on the article, Jr. Other than his commentary of disappointment over the cancellation of Deadwood and Rome, there’s only the rehashing of factual occurrences.
“HBO reject”? What’s that even mean? And I would certainly not consider repeatedly battering your girlfriend to be a “mishap”.
Well, thanks for stopping by

Yes, I am a nobody. A nobody whose $12/mo. has helped to pay his salary for years. What do I get in return? Old movies, that I rented years ago, shown over and over again and the cancellation of the three best shows on television. Thanks Chris!
