The Bachelor, An Officer and a Gentleman: Results and Review

Tonight Andy took the remaining three women to visit his home in Hawaii. Before the night was over Andy would have to decide which two of these ladies would get to meet his family next week and which one was going home. It’s time for Andy to get serious and get the answers he needs from the final three.

Andy first took each of the girls to visit the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. The girls all stated how they liked seeing Andy in his element. Visiting Andy at the Arizona Memorial did give them a sense of the seriousness of what it means to be a military officer but, that still did not really give them a picture into his daily life in the Navy.
Andy told some little girl that Tessa was his girlfriend.

Individual Date: Tessa
Andy took Tessa to Kauai which Andy described as the most romantic of the Hawaiian Islands. They started their date by doing a bunch of outdoor activities, zip lining, hiking, and a picnic. Tessa finally sounds like she is committed. She decided that this date she would really make the effort to put herself out there. They were kissing… a lot. The two of them had nothing but good things to say about this date.

Later that night during dinner, Tessa continued to lay her feelings out there for Andy and he was eating it up. Tessa immediately accepted when Andy presented her with the key for the suite together. That annoyed me only because during the preview before every commercial ABC made it look like Tessa didn’t want to head up to the suite with Andy. All in all, Andy and Tessa had the perfect date together. Tessa is going to be Andy’s choice.

Individual Date: Danielle
Andy took Danielle on a catamaran cruise. I was glad when the whales and dolphins appeared. That gave Danielle and Andy something to talk about because their small talk which consisted of repeated statements of “isn’t this so great?” over and over again was getting old. They had a a lot of fun snorkeling. They were kissing a lot too. Then Andy had a heart to heart with Danielle. She told Andy about the psychic that predicted her boyfriends death and her future romantic happiness. To me, Danielle still does not sound like she is over the death of her college boyfriend. Andy kept saying that his feelings for Danielle were gelling but, he still seemed a little unsure.

Andy had a psychic reader join them at dinner. She gave them the same advice that pretty much any one else could have. This gave Andy the opportunity to discuss things with Danielle. Andy and Danielle both think that she is over her boyfriend’s death. Danielle accepted the opportunity to join Andy in the fantasy suite. In the suite they talked about their desires for the future which helped reassure Andy that Danielle and he had similar ideas of how they would like to spend the rest of their lives.

Kauai

Individual Date: Bevin
Bevin and Andy went hiking, kayaking, and swimming. Andy and Bevin as always had a great time together. Andy asked her if she would love to live in Hawaii with him. Guess what she said. Yes. What else do you think she would say. They spent a lot of time making out in the water and under the waterfall when they were swimming. For dinner, Andy and Bevin had their own private luau.

After the fun was over, Andy got serious with her and grilled Bevin again about her past and dreams for the future. Bevin answered Andy’s question about what she wants for the future the way Andy would want, marriage, children, etc. When asked about how her past would affect her views on marriage in the future, Bevin stated that she wouldn’t give up her dream of happiness and a family because of a mistake she made when she was younger. When presented with the chance to go to the fantasy suite, Bevin said she was accepting so that they could continue their conversation and get to know each other better because they both knew the passion was already there.

Rose Ceremony:
Andy was having a hard time deciding which girl to send home. So ABC flew in Andy’s best friend. They spent time discussing the girls in an effort to help Andy narrow his choice. As far as you can tell from the footage they showed, this did nothing to help Andy out at all. The only thing interesting that I heard, was when Andy said of the three, he thought Bevin had the strongest feelings towards him.

Rose

Roses:
1. Bevin
2. Tessa

The girl who did not receive a rose was:
Danielle

Danielle

When Andy gave Tessa the second rose, Danielle was very calm and collected. She didn’t break into hysterics like Amber in fact, she didn’t even cry until she got into the limo. Hopefully this will help Danielle realize that she can move on and that there is love out there for her after the death of her boyfriend. Of the three Danielle was the one Andy had the weakest connection to. I was actually surprised she wasn’t sent home earlier.

Next week: The Season Finale! Andy takes the girls to his hometown in Lancaster, PA. Then the final ceremony when Andy asks one of these two women to be his wife.

No matter how often Andy talks about his physical attraction to Bevin everything I see shows his total connection with Tessa. I just feel they are more alike and are connected on a deeper level. I think Tessa is the one!
BUT why in the coming attractions was the rose still on the table when Tessa and Andy hug???

  2. Walt

I agree Josy. I think Tessa is the one he will end up with. As for the coming attractions, don’t get snowed by ABC. They mess with you all the time in the previews. Like last night when they kept showing Tessa hesitating when it was time for the fantasy suite and she ended agreeing to go immediately. I wouldn’t put too much stock in that if I were you.

  3. Kim

I was hoping he would end up with tessa but i honestly think he will choose bevin….he’s been into her from the beginning…i love tessa..i am hoping she will be the new bachelorette….

  4. Walt

Really? I would say the complete opposite. Andy would end up with Tessa and I was going to write in my next post about the Bachelor that I thought Bevin should be the next bachelorette (I still will). I think he has a much stronger emotional connection with Tessa especially now thats she’s opened up more.

  5. Sheila

One minute I think he’ll choose Bevin and the next minute I think it’s Tessa. He really did seem to be into Tessa, so now I’m leaning towards Tessa. Actually I hope it is her because, to be honest, I don’t care much for Bevin.

Of all the previous batchelors, Andy seems to be the most grounded and sincere. It was touching to see that he was visibliy upset having to say good bye to the last two girls not getting a rose.

So, next week’s episode is the finale? Are they not doing a “girls tell all” episode like they have done in the past the week before the finale?

As a side note, I’m not sure why Andy said that Kauai is the most romantic of the Hawaiian Islands. I love Kauai and if I was pushed to have to pick my favorite, it would be Kauai, but I don’t think there is anything that makes Kauai more romantic that the other islands. I’d love to find out why he thinks that.

  6. Walt

They don’t seem to have a The Girls Tell All show as they have in previous years. There is no TV listing for it and no mention on the official The Bachelor site.

i was hoping he would end up with tessa but i honestly think he will choose bevin…. he’s been into beginning… i love tessa.. i am hoping she will be the new bachelorette. also it could be an a bevin powers to also could to win not tessa then so will actually to get the last rose and the ring.

  8. Walt

What sold me on Tessa was when he practically begged her to stay on the show. Even though he feels that electric jolt when he sees Bevin, I think he feels something deeper for Tessa.

  9. Michele

WHY does everyone like Tessa , she has been so wishy washy the whole time . She just doesnt seem 100 % commmited to Andy he has to constantly pull teeth to get her to say anything . errrrrrr I cant stand her , I really hope he picks Bevin they have a lot more in common and who cares if she has been married before , she has been straight forward about everything and what she wants .

  10. Matt

Sadly, it could easily be her behavior of not being 100% into him that drives him even more towards her. I’ve seen it happen before, not me of course, no no no, but a friend did that.

  11. Mary Kay Sharpe

Did Andy marry Tessa? Are they still a couple if he didn’t or has everything gone by the wayside?

  1. The Batchelor in Hawaii | Go Visit Hawaii

[...] OK, I admit it, I’m a closet fan of ABC’s show “The Batchelor”.   I especially enjoyed last  night’s episode because it was filmed in Hawaii.   The batchelor is Lt Andy Baldwin who is an undersea medical officer for special opeations dive unit stationed in Pearl Harbor on Oahu.  On the show, the batchelor and his three “girlfriends” first go to the visit to the USS Arizona Memorial.  Then they are off to Kauai for zip lining, hiking and snorkeling in and around Kauai.  (For a brief wrap up of the episode, click here.)  [...]
