American Idol Stage

Here we are at the American Idol Season 6 Performance Show Finale! Tonight we’ll see our final two contestants: Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks get out there and try to pull as many votes as they can to be this season’s American Idol. After last week’s surprise exit by Melinda Doolittle (See our related list of this season’s Top 10 Events) I was certainly left a little stunned. I certainly didn’t expect to see Blake Lewis this far along in the season. Can he stand up to the force that is Jordin Sparks? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Ryan of course had to started off the show by addressing Paula’s nose. She broke it last night when she tripped over her dog. Ryan’s comment, “So the bitch is alright.” Nice. Paula looked a little puffy but not too bad. I bet she was in makeup early tonight.

Round 1:

Blake Lewis: “You Give Love a Bad Name”
It sounded like Blake changed the arrangement up a little again for tonight’s performance. I didn’t like it quite as much as last time. I liked Blake’s beat boxing (I can say that this week since Matt isn’t here). The vocals sounded weird but that may have been because of the change in venue.
Randy: “10 outta 10 on the beatboxing. The singin’ was just alright.”
Paula: “I wish I could give you more than a 10 so 10 + 10 + 10 + 10…”
Simon: “You’re no the best singer… but, you are the best entertainer.”

Jordin Sparks: “Makes Me”
Awesome, just awesome.
Randy: “Not your greatest entertainer thing, but the vocals were stellar.”
Paula: “Stellar”
Simon: “Vocals were a bit shreiky in the middle. I’m going to call round 1 to Blake.”

Round 2:

Blake Lewis: “She Will be Loved”
I thought his performance was good although he seemed to have some trouble with a few of the high notes. This one was strictly vocals, no beat boxing.
Randy: “Very nice”
Paula: “You really got into the ease of the song”
Simon: “It was good, it was safe, it wasn’t as good as the first song”

Jordin Sparks: “A Broken Wing”
Jordin just had an incredible voice. She sounded like she has been a singing professionally for years.
Randy: “Flawless, unbelieveable, better than the original”
Paula: “You are in great vocal voice tonight”
Simon: “Now that was good”

Round 3:

Blake Lewis: “This is My Now”
Blake did a good job singing this song, and I really liked the song but, I would hate for this to be Blake’s first single if he wins. It was not his style at all. I don’t think the fans who really like him and have been voting for him all along would buy this song.
Randy: “It was alright, just alright”
Paula: “You were in great voice”
Simon: “It was a little odd… you looked a bit frustrated… we need to jedge you tonight on your first two songs”
Vote#: 1-866-IDOLS-01
Vote#: 1-866-IDOLS-03
Vote#: 1-866-IDOLS-05
Text: “VOTE” to 5701

Jordin Sparks: “This is My Now”
This was a much better song for Jordin than it was for Blake. This song was made for her. Jordin could definitely have a hit with This is My Now. She sang it brilliantly. Even when she broke down and cried at the end it was perfect. There will be alot of downloads of this song tonight.
Randy: “You were the best singer tonight. You deserve it all.”
Paula: “You have a lot to be proud of”
Simon: “Last week I didn’t think you were good enough to make the finals… I was wrong. You just wiped the floor with Blake on that one.”
Vote#: 1-866-IDOLS-02
Vote#: 1-866-IDOLS-04
Vote#: 1-866-IDOLS-06
Text: “VOTE” to 5702
