Yo ho, Yo Ho, a pirates life for me! Arrrgh! So how was Pirates of the Caribbean 3 ye ask? Long, very very verrrrry long, especially after the 50 gallon drum they give you if you order a medium drink!

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
Director: Gore Verbinski
Starring: Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Stellan Skarsgard, Geoffrey Rush
Genre: Action/Adventure, Adaptation and Sequel
Duration: 2 hr. 45 min.
Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of action/adventure violence and some frightening images.
Plot: As the threat to pirates-at-large near its climax, Will Turner (Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) form an alliance with surprise accomplice Captain Barbossa (Rush) and sail to the Far East in order to save Jack Sparrow from the mysterious afterworld known as Davey Jones’s Locker.
I went with 3 boys all under the age of 12 (which of course meant 4 trips to the bathroom). They loved it! “It was even funnier than the second movie! But there wasn’t as much action,” was a quote I heard from them on the way out of the theater. I’m not sure the kids followed the whole story though. The plot kept getting more complicated as the movie progressed and everyone double crossed everyone else at some point in the film. I’m not even sure I really followed it all. I’ll have to watch it again once it comes out on DVD and I can pause it any time a feel like it for a bathroom break. The action was good about the same as the other movies. You know, a little over the top but they didn’t surpass 1 & 2 in this regard.
Even though I’m not a big fan of women that look like young boys I found Keira Knightley to be very attractive in this movie. I think it had more to do with the fact that a pirate queen in my kind of woman than anything else! Arrrgh!
The ending was good (but too long). It wasn’t quite what I expected. I won’t ruin for you. They did a good job of tying up the story but, there is no reason they couldn’t have a Pirates 4. This is Disney after all. They are never above milking a good thing.
Over all I really enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At Worlds End. It was a little too long and a little too complicated, but it was fun and action-packed to use a cliche. If you liked the first two you’ll enjoy this one but, don’t feel bad waiting for DVD (especially if you have a small bladder).
It did get me excited for Pirate Master though!

Weekend Movie Box Office Round-up: June 1 - 3, 2007 | Wild Bluff Media : Entertainment Examined
June 3rd, 2007 at 2:28 pm[...] Pirates of the Caribbean 3 held on to his command of the box office again this weekend and triumphed over the new releases including Knocked Up and Mr. Brooks. I was glad to see Knocked Up pull in almost $30 million as I’ve been enjoying director Judd Apatow’s work. Shrek 3 managed to hold on to a very strong earning with over $26 million as well. Mr. Brooks had a disappointing debut earning with only $10 million when you consider the cast involved (Costner, Hurt, and Moore). I think poor reviews killed its chance of moving up higher over the weekend. [...]

I just returned from it and I was fairly impressed. The story line became more and more intricate and there were a few parts where I had to figure out what the hell was going on between the characters. Other than that, it was pretty freakin’ awesome.
