Hell’s Kitchen

Tonight begins another 12-course season with head chef Gordon Ramsay. This season’s winner will become that Head chef of their own restraunt with a $250,000 salary and profit sharing at the Green Valley resort in Las Vegas. They showed a preview of the whole season. It looks like a really good one but the one part I didn’t get was the chefs playing paint ball. Aaron the giant asian cowboy who is the 48 year old chef at a retirement home is going to be a disaster this season. Every other clip they show in the promos is of him crying.

Chef Ramsay started by having each of the chefs cook him their signature dish after being in Hell’s Kitchen for about 2 minutes. Chef Ramsay told them, “This is you on a plate.” because he can tell alot about a chef by the way they make a dish. Tiffany and Melissa were the only ones who created a dishes that was edible in Chef Ramsay’s opinion. In preparation of the reopening of Hell’s Kitchen the next night, the chefs were divided into 2 teams, the men on the Blue Team and the women on the Red Team.

Aaron

Blue Kitchen
Aaron having trouble (no surprise). He was in tears before the even opened the doors while Chef Ramsay was trying to talk to the blue team. Vinnie failed for an hour at the appetizer station before Chef Ramsay demoted him to dish washer and had Brad replace him. Aaron actually bailed out to go ball in the back until Chef Ramsay had to give him a pep talk to get him back to work.

Red Kitchen
The Red Team was a mess. No one was working together or communicating with each other. No one on the team would give Julia the short order cook anything to do. Joanna tried to take over, but this only served to make everyone angry with her. Julia threw the red team under the bus by telling Chef Ramsay that there was no communication in the red kitchen. The red kitchen’s big problem though was that they could not seem to get any food out because no could cook the fried eggs. Chef Ramsay had to come over again and again to yell, “Ladies, ladies, can we please stop arguing? Yeh?” Melissa finally took over, which ticked off the rest of the team but they finally managed to get some food out.

People were getting up and leaving after 2 hours without being served. Chef Ramsay finally shut the kitchen’s down. While it was a hard decision, Chef Ramsay decided that the Red Team lost. Melissa was the best of the worst so, Chef Ramsay made her pick two of her teammates to put on the block. The girls were all wanted her to nominate Julia because she worked at the waffle house (That’s a little catty). Melissa ended up nominating Joanna and Tiffany. Tiffany was shocked, because Melissa had told her she was not going home. Chef Ramsay selected Tiffany for making plastic eggs.

Tiffany

All in all a good start to the season. Julia, Aaron, Vinnie with the big mouth, and Eddie (the chef with pigmy’s disease) seem like they will add some drama. Then we had our three cry babies, Bonnie and Julia, and Aaron who were in tears all night. After just one episode, I think the front runners are Melissa, Brad, Rock, and Joanna.

Bon appetit.

That Ramsey is never a disappointment. Is it me or is he looking better each year?

God, I was cracking up last night! Ramsay is such good entertainment. Having lived the life of a cook, I can understand the pressures that they go through. But the lack of communication and the break down of Aaron just showed how they don’t pick qualified individuals and I find I can usually pick the top two after the first show.

In fact, I believe Rock will end up being the winner.

Haha. I laughed when the one girl said that she was scared of him, but that he was still sexy. I guess personality really does go a long way cause that man looks like a scary goblin!

I didn’t even think to ask our resident chef guru on his take of all of this!

He definitely makes for good television. I figure they’ve gotta pick guys like Aaron because the producers know he’ll crack and make for plenty of show time filler with all of his crying. I was even surprised by how patient Ramsay was once they started crying.

Uh-oh. I’m reading some rumors that the winner has already been leaked based on online betting patterns for one of the contestants.

[...] Last week we saw the worst service in Hell’s Kitchen history resulting in Tiffany getting kicked off of the show. Aaron has some serious issues. This guy needs to be on Dr. Phil’s show, not Gordon Ramsey’s. He is constantly breaking down and cracking under the pressure and its only week 2! Vinnie is the other problem child this season. Chef has it in for him but Vinnie seems like a jerk. He is looking for trouble so I have no sympathy for him. [...]
