Following last week’s not-so-surprising turn of events that left Isaiah Washington without a TV home for this fall the news has come along that Katherine Heigl will indeed have her contract renewed with Grey’s Anatomy.
Heigl was the last of the cast to receive her pickup letter following contract dispute issues earlier this year. The rising star had earlier demanded per episode payouts of $200,000 which would bring her inline with co-stars Ellen Pompeo and Sandra Oh. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month Heigl had this to say:
I just want to be treated with the same respect they’re showing the other actors, and so far they’ve refused to do that.
It looks like Heigl will have plenty of options in the future though should her Grey’s Anatomy career stumble in the future. Her blockbuster comedy, Knocked Up, made over $46 million in less than a week in the theaters which should provide a strong fan base for her next movie 27 Dresses which is currently filming in New York. She’ll also be taking on a less intensive job as the face of Nautica’s first fragrance for women.
If you haven’t seen Knocked Up yet I’d highly recommend it. You can read my review of it to see if you’re interested.
