Manhunt 2

Manhunt 2, put out by Rockstar Games, has been denied approval for sale in the UK, effectively banning it in the country. The ban was decided upon by the British Board of Film Classification based on the games’ “focus on stalking and brutal slaying.” This is the same game that prompted an effort to block a Nintendo Wii themed toy giveaway at Wendy’s restaurants just because Manhunt 2 will be available on the Wii.

The plot of Manhunt 2, according to GameStop:

“An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel is sent to the Dixmor Asylum, where six years later a freakish storm of lightning hits the power, leaving it dark and haunting. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. The Pickman Project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out.

Demented screams echo around the dank asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps to the floor through your shaking hands. A bloody syringe slips from your arm. Waves of confusion and paranoia crash over you. You have no idea who you are or how you got here.

The door to your cell is open. One choice. One chance. They took your life. Time to take it back.”

The whole style of hunting people and silently catching them doesn’t really sound like anything new. How many Hitman video games are out there already? Fun note in the video below, the interviewee appears to be watching a Harry Potter movie in the clip instead of anything relevant to this game. I could be wrong though.

Likely I would have never heard of this game if not for the ban.
No such thing as bad publicity. This game is going to sell like mad in the U.S.

No kidding. When a game gets deemed the most violent in ten years (it was the first in 10 yrs to get banned in the UK) then you know everyone is going to want to find out about it. I imagine anyone in the UK that knows how to work eBay will be just fine for getting ahold of this.
