Vinnie was hammering Jen over the debacle in the kitchen Last week when Jen pulled the spaghetti out of the trash. While Jen made a huge error in judgment, Vinnie of all the chef’s has no place to say anything as he is likely to be the next one going home.
Challenge
Tonight’s challenge was interesting. Each of the chefs was blind folded and had chef Ramsay place three seperate foods in their mouth one at a time. The team which identified the most food correctly wins the challenge. Chef Ramsay did this because he wanted the chefs to push their palettes to the extreme. When he said that, I thought it was going to be like watching an episode of Fear Factor instead of Hell’s Kitchen. Unfortunately, the most unusual things the chef’s had to eat were venison and bok choy. Most of the food was pretty mundane things like American cheese, boiled carrots, and pears. Never the less it was interesting to see how many items the chefs got wrong. Out of the 10 items the chefs tried, even the women only got 5 correct. So yes, the women won again 5 to 3.
The women went to at the restraunt Opaque which offers the unique experience of serving their customers in the dark so that they can focus on purely on the taste and texture of their meals. For losing the blue team had to prep both kitchens for the dinner service. In an effort to improve the men’s palette’s they did get the fear factor treatment as well. Each of the men was served a plate containing tripe, kidneys, pigs feet, creamed herring, pickled herring, pig’s tongue and cow’s tongue (Blech!). Rock actual had to go to the restroom to empty his stomach.
Dinner Service
Tonight’s dinner service would be decided by the customer comment cards. Josh started off badly by under cooking the risotto for the appetizers. When Josh was caught doing nothing, Rock took over the appetizer station and then managed to get all of them out. The big problem for the blue team tonight was Vinnie on the meat station. Vinnie over cooked the wellingtons. Then he undercooked the wellingtons instead and had more trouble carving them.
Things were not much better in the red kitchen. Melissa got yelled at for not being a team player and then blamed Julia for it. Chef Ramsay totally blew up at Bonnie for goofing up the chicken and then lying about it. Bonnie had no end of trouble with the meats and Chef Ramsay was merciless where she was concerned. Bonnie totally broke down crying. She was in tears because she was not used to working in a restaurant environment.
While the red kitchen was in bad shape, the blue kitchen seemed to have had the most trouble though. Dish after dish was sent back to the kitchen: cold, salty, or under cooked. Chef Ramsay was totally pissed and cut the dinner service off. The best part of the night though was when this lady actually had the nerve to go up and complain to Chef Ramsay. After he called the customer a few names Jean-Phillipe escorted her back to her table.
Results
While most of the customers who received their food enjoyed it, 65% of the customers said they wouldn’t come back because the food took too long to get to the table. Chef Ramsay decided that neither team won tonight. He asked Rock to nominate one member of his team. Then , after making fun of Bonnie and Melissa, he asked Jen to nominate someone from her team not because she was good, but because she wasn’t bad.
Rock’s choice was surprising. Chef Ramsay all but told him to nominate Vinnie, but he nominated Josh instead. Jen nominated Melissa based on her performance. Chef Ramsay was also surprised at their choices. So surprised that he overruled their decisions. He instead selected Bonnie and Vinnie who were the obvious choices.
After asking both of them why they should say Chef Ramsay decided to send Vinnie home. Vinnie blew this for himself. He displayed no humility at all. He was arrogant which is probably the worst thing you can do with Chef Ramsay.
Next Week:
Next week, wedding bells ring on Hell’s Kitchen. The teams will be cooking for a wedding reception. From what they showed in the previews it looks like this bride and groom may have made a mistake. Chef Ramsay throws one of the chefs out of the kitchen for nearly killing someone. Before the episode is over Chef Ramsay screams, “I don’t think I have ever been so embarrassed in my entire life!”

Man, that is hilarious watching those guys try to put that food down. I used to be a cook and I have eating pretty much most of the food on their plates. Thing about the English is that they LOVE their organ meat. Needless to say it can be very interesting.
How can someone not enjoy Gordon Ramsay? Such good reality TV.
