Back to the high seas tonight on Pirate Master! So far we’ve seen 5 pirates set adrift, but who will be sent away tonight? The scheming starts right away with Joy talking about her suspicions on what goes on behind the closed doors of the captain’s cabins. She’s right to be concerned as Azmyth, Jay, and Ben have formed a very strong alliance which is called the Triad. To offset this macho mood we start to get talk of our first female captain. I think they’re right considering we’re a third of the way through the season and it’s been all male captains so far. Maybe tonight it’ll shift to the fairer sex. Let’s see what happens.
The Zanzibar Chest
The next compartment open and reveals a treasure hidden by the captain’s main crew leader. The man who knew the boat better than anyone. The man, apparently without a name as I swear it was edited out as the audio dropped right as host Cameron Daddo was saying it. Please update me if your ears worked better than mine. Regardless, the team selection commences and plays out as such:
Black Crew: Azmyth, Jay, Ben, Laurel, Christa, and Joy
Red Crew: Louie, Joe Don, Nessa, Jupiter, and Kendra
Now off to the treasure, teams! Kendra and Joy are both weak swimmers so they each initially slow down their respective teams. First to the ruins, the first stop on their journey, is the red crew, but the black crew catches and surpasses them. Both teams are forced to carry a very large, bulky wooden ladder, and it does not look like fun at all! The next stop leads the teams to an old boat which they disassemble to find their next, hidden clue. From here the black crew is leading as they seek the treasure’s key, but that lead slips quickly as the red team is right behind them. The black crew continues to slip as for some reason they send Louie up the ladder into the tree to find the key. Ah yes, Louie. Mr. Dexterity. Good choice black crew.
Okay, the keys are eventually retrieved. Now the crews must head deeper into the jungle where there’s lots of slipping and sliding through the mud. Things get tougher though as the pirates arrive at a wobbly, wet, rope bridge which I’m grateful I didn’t have to cross. As they work their way across the pirates find clues imprinted on its foot boards. From there the black crew continues their lead and successfully reaches the treasure first, securing another week for Captain Azmyth and his Triad alliance.
The Booty:
Host Daddo spreads out the treasure to reveal a full $40,000 in gold. Wow, nice pull! He also presents Captain Azmyth with the chance to replace one or both of his officer. Not surprisingly is Azmyth’s decision to stick with his Triad alliance and press on to the finish line. Smart move. Now a not so smart move from this bunch, they decide to split things a little differently this week. They decide to keep an extra 10% this week since they are in office for a second week in a row. This doesn’t go over well with Joy or Laurel, but especially Joy. The Triad seems oblivious to this as they move on to the Black Spot discussions. Weighing the pirates’ strengths and weakness they finally come to a decision. But before we reveal that it’s time for a bit of romance with Joe Don and Nessa. This couple spends some quality time on the deck in the dark that eventually leads to a little kiss between them. Aww. Hey! No “aww’ing” on this ship. You’re only allowed to “Arrgh”! Got it? Good.
Black Spots:
1. Joy
2. Kendra
3. Joe Don
None of these Spots come as a surprise to me. Joy and Kendra are both weak players which might be nice in some games, but not Pirate Master. When you rely on your team to move quickly and play strong you can’t have someone that falls down every race or can’t survive the swim portion independently. Then there’s Joe Don that is definitely a strong player that I wouldn’t want to have to face off against. So I wouldn’t pass up a chance to take him out either.
The Pirates Court:
Joy, Kendra, and Joe Don are up against their peers in tonight’s Pirates Court. They’ve got a tough challenge as this could go in a lot of directions before its over and someone is cut adrift. Joy goes first and she is seriously very good at talking her way out of these situations. Well she has had several chances up there to practice already. Kendra makes a decent attempt by saying she doesn’t think she’s really the cause of the loses. Joe Don goes last and makes a great point that he should be kept because he is a threat to the Triad and therefore is a hope to the rest of the crew. Smart man, but was he effective?
There were 3 bids for the Royal Pardon and it has been won by Joe Don for $12,000. Wow!! All JD actually had to bid was $701 to win the Pardon. That’s quite a bit too much, but Nessa doesn’t mind as she gets to cash in on his generosity. Geez, I hope he didn’t give her an extra $11K over that kiss! Arrgh, no more kissy-talk, back to the voting. This leaves only Kendra and Joy at the Court. The votes are in and at 3 votes to 2, Joy is set adrift. So once again, JD has bought the Royal Pardon for nothing.

Joy’s voyage has ended as she has been cut adrift.
Next Week:
Joe Don and Nessa get a little closer with more Arrghy-face moments and Captain Azmyth rolls out a wise plan to wear out his competition with tiring tasks each day.
