The post-holiday weekend is upon us and since the big day already happened this week both of these movies actually came out earlier in the week. However, I just didn’t think it’d be right to not have a “weekend movie preview” during the week or to go the weekend without one either. So here we are with two already released (though just days ago) movies. One looks kinda questionable, the other has giant, intergalactic robots and rhymes with Ransformers. You guess which is which.
Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, July 6 - 8, 2007.
Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Bernie Mac, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson
Director: Michael Bay
Genre: Action/Adventure, Science Fiction/Fantasy and Adaptation
Duration: 2hr 20mins
Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, brief sexual humor and language.
Plot: The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.
My Take: I’m finally coming around on this one after hearing good reviews of it. The action is supposed to be pretty intense and the effects definitely look impressive. Hopefully I’ll get out there to see it this weekend.
Transformers Movie Trailer:
License to Wed
Director: Ken Kwapis
Starring: Robin Williams, Mandy Moore, John Krasinski, Eric Christian Olsen
Genre: Comedy / Romance
Rated: Rated PG-13 for sexual humor and language.
Duration: 1hr 30mins
Plot: A reverend (Williams) puts an engaged couple (Moore and Krasinski) through a grueling marriage preparation course to see if they are meant to be married in his church.
My Take: I’m really worried that Robin Williams will pull this movie down. Wow, ten years ago I never would have imagined that phrase. But he’s just not funny anymore. He was on Letterman last Thursday and I seriously had to turn it off and it was just on in the background as I worked. All he does are awkward, silly voices. If it was someone else I’d consider it as I really do enjoy John Krasinski and Mandy Moore certainly ain’t too shabby either. Oh, and um, I swear that in the trailer below Mandy Moore slips Krasinski the tongue in their “first kiss” moment. No kidding. Go John.
