Hell’s Kitchen

Tonight’s episode began with Melissa switch to the blue team. She immediately started in with, “Let me tell you something…” Rock just seems amused by having Melissa on the team. He isn’t worried at all. Jen came clean to that she isn’t just a pastry chef. She had worked as a chef at a number of restaurants in Philadelphia.

Challenge
Each team had to prepare three lobster dishes which were original and creative. Bonnie hates lobsters: touching them, killing them, etc. But she did it. Julia had some trouble as lobster isn’t usually served at the diner. Josh was not allowed to touch anything in the kitchen the Lobsters as he could not tell the difference between lobster and scallops during the taste test challenge. He “coached the hell out of Melissa” though (Rock’s words), and she actually took direction from him. In the end though, her citrus lobster salad lost to Bonnie’s grilled lobster. Rock’s buttermilk fried Lobster beat Julia’s boring Lobster risotto. Finally, Jen’s lobster bisque ust barely beat Brad’s lobster bisque.

The girl’s won a photo shoot with In Touch magazine. The blue team had to go through all of the garbage cans in Hell’s Kitchen and separate out the recyclables. No wonder he picked the girl’s team. One might almost guess the fix was in on this one. Poor Rock. He was so angry that they lost and had to pick through the garbage. Then Chef made him head over to the photo shoot just to pick up the garbage there too! It was pretty funny.

Dinner Service
Melissa actually seemed to join the team. She was listening to the other guys and taking direction. It was shocking. The red team was feeling confident without Melissa but they also had that much more today. In addition to dinner service the blue team had to get the lobsters from the tank for both kitchens because they lost but, they did have one extra chef too. Chef Ramsay also added Bonnie’s grilled lobster salad to the menu.

Blue kitchen off to a slow start while the red team was off to a clean start with Jen on the appetizer station. They were off to such a good start Chef Ramsay actually complemented them. Then Bonnie’s pan burst into flames. Chef Ramsay quickly handled the problem and explained to Bonnie what to do when that happens. The red kitchen was on a roll even though Julia was having some trouble. The blue kitchen had no end of problems though. Josh and Brad were both a mess in the blue kitchen, and Melissa only helped to bring them down further. When an entire table sent their dishes back to the blue kitchen Chef Ramsay shut it down. Hmm, I wonder who the losing team is tonight?

The blue team together had to come up with two nominations from their team. They decided on Melissa and Josh. When the time came though Chef Ramsay didn’t even ask for their nominations. He asked Melissa to step forward and sent her home immediately. He then had both Josh and Brad step forward and defend themselves. He then sent both of them back into line with one more chance. I certainly wouldn’t say that this was the most shocking results yet even though that’s how it was hyped last week. I really think Melissa threw them off their game tonight. They were clicking as a team before Chef Ramsay tossed here into the mix. Maybe without her the three guys can get their act together again.

Next Week:
The chefs compete in the paintball challenge. I have no idea what this has to do with cooking though. It looks like both teams have trouble during the dinner service. Which will not be good for the blue team.
