It’s time for the very first eviction of Big Brother 8 and after a failed attempt at winning the Power of Veto on Tuesday the nominations remain Amber and Carol. Being the first one off the show has to be a shameful event as it shows you can’t get at least 6 people to find you agreeable for 10 days. Someone has to go though, and other than this year’s America’s Player, Eric, we have little say in the matter. While we’re on the topic of America’s Player I’ve gotta say that I think it’s incredibly cool that we’ll get to decide his vote. I wonder if that’s the situation for the whole season, or just until the producers decide to let him take over on that aspect. If we’re deciding for his entire stay that’s going to make things really tough on Eric. He won’t be able to promise a vote to anyone without fear of potentially discovering moments before he votes that he’ll have to turn on his word. Vote promising is just about the biggest bargaining chip the players have available in BB, so I’ll be interested in seeing how often he’ll go by America’s decision or just miss out on the $$.
The voting landscape for tonight is pretty complicated as you’ve still got a full house this round. Lucky for Kail, there can’t be any ties as the number of voters is odd. Take away Kail and your two nominees and there will be 11 votes cast live in the diary room tonight. All one of these ladies will need is 6 votes to keep her around, and that’s a lot of votes to secure.
Amber seems to be a touch more personal amongst this group as she keeps bonding with everything that walks by her. While she might be a touch delusional, and definitely over emotional, Amber is striking up good friendships that I believe will keep her here this week. Her strongest strategic connection appears to be with Dustin. Now I wouldn’t consider Dustin to be a strong player here, but they seem to be enjoying a two-way confidence building relationship. It has the chance to spider out to a bigger thing, but for now it should do.
Carol looks to be hopeless here. Her old “worst enemy”, Jessica, is the closest thing she has to a friend in the house and even she is just fronting their rekindled friendship. On Tuesday when Carol went to Jessica with an indirect call for help she easily deflected it and Carol gave little persistence. Even her strong plead to Zach appears to have potentially crumbled as the Mrs. Robinson’s alliance continues to waver on how they’ll vote.
Sadly, I think we’re going to be up for at least one more week of puffy, red faced crying from Amber as Carol is most likely facing eviction tonight. I’ll roll the dice and predict a vote of 7 to 4 with the Senator’s daughter on her way out while “bonding” girl takes this round. Big Brother 10
Don’t forget that once the votes are placed and Chenbot makes the reveal we’ll follow our house guests out to the backyard for the second HoH competition. Last week was a semi-endurance mixed with Q&A, like most of the first HoH contests are. It could go either way tonight and but will probably be one of the game show style Q&A rounds with everyone lined up in the booths. If it is I’m willing to guess that either Joe or Jen will be the first ones out, unless the answer is either Joe or Jen, respectively of course.
