BB8 Carol

Last night we saw Carol heading out the door as the first evictee of Big Brother 8. With such a short stay it’s interesting to take a look back and see where this quiet, short time BB8 player went wrong in a “three-strikes” fashion. The first strike against Carol was that she came into this game as part of the Big Brother twist “Worst Enemies”. While her part of this theme was a weak, at best, grudge between Carol and fellow housemate Jessica, it likely put her on at least a slight edge. Although it appears Carol was able to quickly move past her dated feud it was clear up to the end that Jessica had not. Walking into the Big Brother house with no friends is always better than walking with someone that doesn’t like you and is willing to share that dislike amongst the others. Jessica wasn’t shy about her feelings on Carol and freely spread that attitude around the house. Carol’s first strike was that having someone against you is far worse than having no one for you.

The next strike against Carol was her willingness to trust. This draws a little on her first strike as she was too complacent to trust Jessica that their fight had been settled. Instead of continuing to suspect her enough she didn’t think to follow up on what damage Jessica could be doing to her reputation in the house. Zach was another offender of Carol’s trust. When Carol went to him for help he promised her, ’sure, I’ll help,’ and then he went right along with what he wanted to do instead. So instead of trying to campaign for herself Carol kept expecting others to do the work for her and trusting them to do so as they said. Strike number two, Carol, was your trust in others.

Strike number three came from Carol’s passive approach to the game. When you hear a player state, “I’m not going to campaign against [insert name of co-nominee],” you’ve got a dead man/woman walking. Just like Zach pointed out, if you’ve got the passive attitude in this game then “why the @!#$ did you come here?” These other house guests are not your friends. They have no more right to the prize money than you do. Everyone “needs the money” so stop at nothing to play this game and win it. Fight, fight, fight. Not “playing the game” was your third, and biggest strike. Three strikes and you’re out of the Big Brother 8 house, Carol. Thanks for playing.
