Weekend Movie Preview logo

Last weekend might have broken a big record with the release of Transformers, but I think it’s safe to say Optimus Prime will be dethroned as Harry Potter arrives. Coming in for his 5th film in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is sure to rock the box office and fill the seats. If torture is more your thing over magic then Captivity, the horror-thriller, may be just your movie. Elisha Cuthbert serves up a sexy role in this scary flick. There are 4 more movies coming out in limited release: Interview, My Best Friend, Shortcut to Happiness, and Talk to Me. The last one stars Don Cheadle who plays the real life role of an ex-convict who becomes a famous TV and radio personality in the 60’s. Out of all of these movies Talk to Me interests me the most as I nearly always Don Cheadle in movies. What are your movie plans for this weekend?

Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, July 13 - 15, 2007.

Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman
Director: David Yates
Genre: Action/Adventure, Kids/Family, Romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Adaptation and Sequel
Duration: 2 hr. 18 min.
Rated: PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images
Plot: As his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry approaches, 15-year-old Harry Potter is in full-blown adolescence, complete with regular outbursts of rage, a nearly debilitating crush, and the blooming of a powerful sense of rebellion. It’s been yet another infuriating and boring summer with the despicable Dursleys, this time with minimal contact from our hero’s non-Muggle friends from school. Harry is feeling especially edgy at the lack of news from the magic world, wondering when the freshly revived evil Lord Voldemort will strike.
My Take: Now I’m no Harry Potter fan, but this trailer still got me pretty interested in the movie. I like how it’s going darker along the way. However, I’m hearing lackluster reviews, which isn’t terribly surprising as expectations have to be huge for this series.

Captivity

Captivity
Director: Roland Joffe
Starring: Elisha Cuthbert, Pruitt Taylor-Vince, Daniel Gillies, Laz Alonso, Michael Harney
Genre: Thriller
Rated: R for strong violence, torture, pervasive terror, grizzly images, language and some sexual material.
Plot: A fashion model and a chauffeur are kidnapped and held hostage in a small room by a serial killer. While the madman methodically terrorizes them, the victims draw strength from each other and fall in love.
My Take: Holy crap this looks creepy. Now I love a good scary movie, but the ones based on torture are too much for me. Now if Hostel and its sequel, Hostel Part 2, or the slightly less torture oriented Saw series of films were you type of movies then you just might like this one too. Let us know if you see it as no one here at Wild Bluff Media has any plans to do so.
