It’s another week of television shows coming at you and we’re here to help. Here’s a break down by night of what you need to be sure to catch and what’s going on this week, July 16 - 20, 2007. Lots of reality TV again this week along with a few series running through the summer. This week the big reality TV bomb drops for me with the start of the eighth season of Big Brother. Oh yes, Big Brother 8 is now in full swing with shows 3 nights a week. Awesome. I’ve really been enjoying Age of Love, Pirate Master, and Hell’s Kitchen. Take a look and see what shows you don’t want to miss this week.
Monday:
Age of Love: 9-10pm on NBC; Mark takes a group of three surfing and then watches movies with a different set of women. Later, Mark takes a date to a biker bar to play pool. Check out the rest of our Age of Love coverage.
Hell’s Kitchen: 8-9pm on Fox; Melissa joins the men’s team as it vies with the women to see which team can prepare a better lobster dish. But first, they must kill the lobsters. At the dinner service one team will have its worst night yet. More on Hell’s Kitchen. This is a repeat of last week’s show.
Hell’s Kitchen: 9-10pm on Fox; The first challenge facing the six remaining contestants: make appetizers and entrees from leftovers. Then the teams must come up with their own menus for the evening’s dinner service. The diners definitely prefer one team’s menu, but that’s not necessarily a good thing since devising selections and executing them are two different things. More on Hell’s Kitchen.
Tuesday:
Big Brother 8: 9-10pm on CBS; The power of veto will be up for grabs to potentially offset Jen’s nominations: Dick and Daniele. Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 coverage.
Pirate Master: 10-11pm on CBS; The seven pirates who were previously cut adrift return to the ship and compete for the treasure that has already been discovered. Later, another pirate will be set adrift. The rest of our Pirate Master coverage.
America’s Got Talent: 8-9:30pm on NBC; Performance Episode 1 - The Top 20 acts square off in the first week of performance shows.
Singing Bee: 9:30-10pm on NBC; A karaoke-inspired competition in which contestants must finish the lyrics once the music stops. Read our review of Singing Bee.
Wednesday:
So You Think You Can Dance?: 8-10pm on FOX; The remaining 12 dancers perform in hopes of moving on.
Don’t Forget the Lyrics: 9:30pm on FOX; A game show that tests contestants’ knowledge of popular songs. They must sing the missing lines after the band stops playing. Wait, huh? Why that sounds like Singing Bee. FOX, you suck. Read our review of Don’t Forget the Lyrics.
Last Comic Standing: 9-10pm on NBC ;Semi-finals #1 - A global contingent of budding stand-up comedians perform in the first round of semi-finals. Tom Arnold acts as guest talent scout.
Thursday:
Big Brother 8: 8-9pm on CBS; Jen’s nominations are now up for live eviction. A new HoH will also be decided. Plus, more drama, as always! Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 coverage.
Don’t Forget the Lyrics: 8:30pm on FOX; A game show that tests contestants’ knowledge of popular songs. They must sing the missing lines after the band stops playing. Wait, huh? Why that sounds like Singing Bee. FOX, you suck. Read our review of Don’t Forget the Lyrics.
So You Think You Can Dance?: 9-10pm on FOX; Enrique Iglesias performs and 2 of the final 12 dancers are eliminated.
Friday:
The Soup: 10-10:30 on E!; This is a great show that recaps the week’s entertainment news and non-news with great commentary by Joel McHale. He’s the supervisor character from those Burger King commercials set in an office. Don’t let that discourage you though, he’s really funny.
Sunday:
Big Brother 8: 8-9pm on CBS; The new HoH will reveal his or her nominations for this week. And, as always, more drama! Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 coverage.
Check back here on Friday for my Weekend Movie Preview Lineup to see what your options will be.
