Hell’s Kitchen

Challenge
This week’s challenge was the Left Overs Test. Each team had 30 minutes to create 3 dishes, one appetizers and 2 main dishes, from a tray of left overs. Chef Ramsay said this was a test he gave to everyone who worked for him. The blue team moved out quickly but red team could not figure out what to do even half way through the challenge.

  • Brad’s Curried Bass vs. Bonnie’s Rustic Chicken Soup - Chef Ramsey declares this a draw.
  • Jen’s Steak and Eggs vs. Josh’s Stuffed Chicken - No winner, Chef Ramsey was disappointed in both dishes
  • Rock’s Surf and Turf v. Julia’s Fish and Chips - He liked the fish and chips but it was just fish and chips
  • Blue Team wins.

The ladies got to give Hell’s Kitchen a spring cleaning and then unload the deliveries. Bonnie was in charge of checking the order they unloaded. The order was all wrong. The turbot was not the filets, just the skeletons, the snapper and butter was wrong, etc. I would bet this was done on purpose as a test for the women. As a reward, the guys got to play paintball against Chef Ramsay as a reward. The guys got to shot Chef Ramsay as much as they wanted too but, if Chef got them, they were out. Chef Ramsay looked pretty spry he did in the end get all three guys.

    Dinner Service
Chef Ramsay declared that tonight’s dinner service was “The most serious service in Hell’s Kitchen yet”. Each team had 1 hour to create their own menus: 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts. The customers would then choose off of the two menus. Brad basically decided the blue menu which all agreed was quite ambitious. Jen was totally pissed off at the menu. She was not happy. When Chef Ramsay asked Julia how much of the menu was her input she told him none. He asked her what she would have put on the menu. When she replied New York Strip steak and shrimp, Chef had the girls add that to their menu.

Most of the orders started off for the red kitchen. The girls had no idea how to cook Bonnie’s rabbit dish. In the red kitchen, Bonnie was cooking without the gas turned on. On top of this the red team had a complete communication break down, earning Chef Ramsay’s wrath.

The blue kitchen’s biggest problems were the return of Brad’s appetizers and Josh’s handling of the lamb station. Josh fouled up the lamb three times in a row. Chef Ramsay told Josh that he can’t cook and that his elimination was coming. Chef asked the guys to help out Josh. No one did though, and Josh ended up catching up on his own.

    Results
In the end there were 52 orders for the girls and 48 for the guys. Julia’s steak and shrimp was the most popular dish of the night. Neither the guys nor the girls really worked as a team tonight, disappointing Chef Ramsay. As a result there was no winning team. Julia was the only person who Chef Ramsay felt comfortable tonight. Julia was asked to nominate someone from her team. Chef Ramsay was disappointed in the Brad and Rock didn’t help Josh out. The blue team as a whole had to pick one member to put up for elimination.

Julia nominated Bonnie because while she knew her food and was creative she felt Bonnie needed to work on her execution. The blue team nominated Brad.

Chef Ramsay choose Brad to go home. While Brad was a hard worker, Chef Ramsay didn’t think he had what it took to be a really great chef.

    Next Week:
The red and blue teams are combined into a single team. It looks like they get the chance to prepare dinner for some major stars. Working together for the first time, Jen and Rock have trouble getting along. Josh pisses of Chef Ramsay and Julia melts down. Best of all one chef doesn’t even make it through dinner service.

Great entertainment, I was really surprised that Brad was booted.

We really enjoy watching Hell’s Kitchen and Chef Ramsey. We always watch for when the chef calls one of them a donkey! It’s usually around 9:30 p.m. for us, about half-way through the show. We think that either Rock or Jen is going to win, but also Julia if she can beat the Waffle House image.
