In the continued support of “ideas are dead in Hollywood” it looks like, well, ideas are dead in Hollywood. 12 years after the last installment of Jim Carrey’s Ace Ventura: Pet Detective the franchise looks to be renewed for some terrible reason. The first one was great, the second was not, and from following the line chart this series has already plotted I think it’s safe to assume the third one will be complete crap.
To help ensure all chance of humor is removed the story will replace Ace Ventura with… Ace Ventura’s kid. Awesome! Wait, what? The plot is rumored to revolve around the kid trying to solve a mystery when his mother is arrested for allegedly stealing a panda. Since when is that illegal?
The starring role is set to feature Josh Flitter of the recent movies: Nancy Drew and License to Wed. Wow, with a track record like that he’s sure to be great! The writers are Jason Heimberg, Justin Heimberg and Jeff Sank along with David Evans in the director’s chair. Filming is set to start in September 2007 in Florida while humor is scheduled to arrive much, much later.
