It’s another week of television shows coming at you and we’re here to help. Here’s a break down by night of what you need to be sure to catch and what’s going on this week, July 30 - August 3, 2007. Lots of reality TV again this week along with a few series running through the summer. Big Brother 8 is now in full swing with shows 3 nights a week. Awesome. I’ve really been enjoying Age of Love, and Hell’s Kitchen. Startling news for all the pirate fans, but Pirate Master was canceled! Damn you CBS! Take a look and see what shows you don’t want to miss this week.
Monday:
Age of Love: 9-10pm on NBC; The women’s families arrive and are given the opportunity to question Mark. Later, Mark goes on several dates that include salsa dancing, high tea, and a carriage ride. Hilarious. I really want Jennifer’s parents to question Mark. They’ve gotta be 80! Check out the rest of our Age of Love coverage.
Hell’s Kitchen: 9-10pm on Fox; The three remaining chefs prepare fine-dining versions of classic American dishes for outside judges… their mothers! Then each contestant gets to run Hell’s Kitchen during dinner service. They must watch for subtle traps set for them by sous chefs MaryAnn and Scott. More on Hell’s Kitchen.
6 Degrees of Martina McBride: 9-11pm on ABC; Six aspiring singers try to make contact with Martina McBride in six steps or less. Those who succeed get to audition for a record deal. Hmm. Okay.
Tuesday:
Big Brother 8: 9-10pm on CBS; The power of veto will be up for grabs to potentially offset Dustin’s nominations. Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 coverage.
America’s Got Talent: 8-9:30pm on NBC; Performance Episode 3 - The Top 10 acts continue the competition in the third week of performance shows.
Singing Bee: 9:30-10pm on NBC; A karaoke-inspired competition in which contestants must finish the lyrics once the music stops. Read our review of Singing Bee.
Wednesday:
So You Think You Can Dance?: 8-10pm on FOX; The remaining 8 dancers perform in hopes of moving on.
Last Comic Standing: 9-10pm on NBC ;Challenge #1 - The Top 10 finalists must measure up in their first challenge: a face-off that pits comedians against a heckler. Then the comics face off against each other in a showdown.
Don’t Forget the Lyrics: 9:30pm on FOX; A game show that tests contestants’ knowledge of popular songs. They must sing the missing lines after the band stops playing. Wait, huh? Why that sounds like Singing Bee. FOX, you suck. Read our review of Don’t Forget the Lyrics.
Thursday:
Big Brother 8: 8-9pm on CBS; Dustin’s nominations are now up for live eviction. A new HoH will also be decided. Plus, more drama, as always! Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 coverage.
Don’t Forget the Lyrics: 8-9pm on FOX; A game show that tests contestants’ knowledge of popular songs. They must sing the missing lines after the band stops playing. Wait, huh? Sounds just like Singing Bee. Read our review of Don’t Forget the Lyrics.
So You Think You Can Dance?: 9-10pm on FOX; Two contestants are eliminated, leaving six remaining.
Friday:
The Soup: 10-10:30 on E!; This is a great show that recaps the week’s entertainment news and non-news with great commentary by Joel McHale. He’s the supervisor character from those Burger King commercials set in an office. Don’t let that discourage you though, he’s really funny.
Sunday:
Big Brother 8: 8-9pm on CBS; The new HoH will reveal his or her nominations for this week. And, as always, more drama! Check out the rest of our Big Brother 8 coverage.
Design Star: 9-10pm on HGTV; The remaining ten contestants will be split into two groups and must compete to design the best kitchen.
Check back here on Friday for my Weekend Movie Preview Lineup to see what your options will be.
Okay, that’s my set of Don’t Miss Shows for this week, July 30 - August 3, 2007.

Wait, Pirate Master was canceled? Seriously!? How will we ever know who won. ‘Tis a sad day.

Definitely a sad day. I’ve got a post going up tomorrow with an update on the series, but the jist of it is that the episodes are online each Tuesday, one at a time. The quality isn’t great, but at least we can finish the last few episodes.
