Only 3 chefs are left tonight on Hell’s Kitchen as the season nears its finale where Chef Ramsay will make his selection for this year’s chef. The remaining chefs are working together as one team. Let’s see how they handle the pressure tonight in Hell’s Kitchen.
Challenge
Tonight’s challenge for the remaining three chefs is to take a classic homemade dish and make it gourmet. Chef Ramsay brings out his mother to make an example and she presents mac and cheese. Ramsay belittles her for her lack of creative and presentation style. Just kidding! He’s clearly proud of his mom, but also brings out how he would now create a mac and cheese dish complete with roasted lobster and truffle shavings. One by one the chefs select their dishes blindly. Bonnie pulls “franks ‘n beans.” Jen lucks out with fried chicken. Rock closes the selections with spaghetti and meatballs. While Bonnie is visibly disappointed I think Rock is the most frustrated. Let’s see how they handle their one hour to make these homemade dishes into gourmet dishes.
For the judging round Chef Ramsay brings in a special panel of tasters, the remaining chefs’ mothers. After the tasting has been completed the mothers vote and announce Jen’s dish of gourmet friend chicken is selected as the winner. As a reward Jen and her mother go out with Chef Ramsay and his mother for a private lunch and mentoring session. Rock and Bonnie are punished by being sent back to clean the dorms, which Bonnie proves to not be a big help on that task.
Dinner Service
To get things started Chef Ramsay takes each chef aside and asks them to prove they can be a “fiery bitch” when they need to. It’s pretty funny to watch each of them cursing Chef Ramsay. I think Bonnie handled it the best while Rock was the funniest, “do you want me to give you a hug?”. Jen’s was pretty weak, but Ramsay lets her get by anyways. To fill in for the eliminated chefs Ramsay uses his sous chefs, but they’re also there to cause a little chaos. Ramsay informs the sous chefs that the first round of mistakes will be pasta without the crab included. Jen fails to catch this mistake as she sends it on out to the dining room, but thankfully she catches the next mistake. Rock is up next and catches the first mistake sent his way, but after he saw what happened with Jen he had an advantage there. Unfortunately Rock is slow at moving his kitchen and things start to fall behind. Bonnie has to come on next and see if she can pick up the pace. Bonnie picks up the lack of crispy skin on the pigeon. The next problem is out of Bonnie’s hands as Jen messes up her tasks and has to start over with the rice. Finally the entire dining room has been served and its time for the results.
Results
Chef Ramsay announces that he’ll make tonight’s decision based on their work during tonight’s dinner service as well as their past efforts. First Ramsay that Rock “has got to go… into the finals.” Oh you should have seen Rock’s reaction, Chef Ramsay got him good there. The other chef to make it on tonight is… Bonnie. Jen has been eliminated from Hell’s Kitchen. Bonnie looks surprised, but I’m not. Jen is a great chef, but she was outclassed by the other two. That means we’ll see Rock and Bonnie enter into next week’s finale and as a reward both of their families are right there behind them. Bonnie confides to her father that she doesn’t think she wants to be a teacher anymore. Oh and there’s Rock who asks his wife if she thinks they’ll get a conjugal visit. Classy.
Next Week:
The finale will features lots of stress in the kitchen for Rock and Bonnie. The chefs will be redesigning their side of Hell’s Kitchen, selecting their menus, and even scouting out their potential new resort location in Las Vegas. Past chefs will also return to join in the fun, but it doesn’t look like all of them are happy to be there. Who do you think will win? I’m rooting for Rock.
