Age of Love

Tonight on Age of Love our journey with Mark Philippoussis, 30, is coming to a close as we discover “does age matter?” The show opens in Memento fashion with Mark stating the feared words of “it’s over” to one of the ladies. We only get to see the back her head though, but I think it looks like Amanda because the head is very narrow. My wife is thinking that’s Jennifer’s head though. Let’s find out!

A quick flashback through Mark’s scenes with each of the ladies remind us of his experiences with each of them. He’s of course very taken with Amanda’s breasts personality and we see all their little kisses. Jennifer, though, really knocked Mark back as he was amazed by how great she turned out to be. He noted that before this show he would have turned down a blind date with a 48 year old, but now that has changed for him.

The first stop on their Australian tour is Mark’s home where the ladies will meet his family and friends. Jennifer takes charge here and dominates the situation in the living room and the kitchen. Things aren’t going well for Amanda as she can’t even help make the salad, which Jennifer does for her. Jennifer was also smart enough to bring a gift for Mark’s mother. What about Amanda? Of course not, and this makes her uncomfortable. Not a big deal though apparently as we don’t even see what that gift was. Once the ladies leave Mark asks his family for their opinions. Mark’s mother preferred Amanda because she’s shy, but Mark’s nephew prefers Jennifer. He’s smart for being so young! Next show: Age of Smarts!

Jennifer gets the first date, which hurts Amanda’s feelings because Jennifer “gets all the best dates.” Their date starts on the water with a gondola ride and ends up the water with a very cool dinner at the aquarium. The couple has a lot of wine (Did you see the size of that bottle?!) and then cuddles up in a little tunnel under the tanks. Things get a little frisky along the way with Jennifer whispering dirty-nothings in his ear about her past sexual escapades. Nothing else too much happens on this date, but I think it went pretty well.

Amanda’s date with Mark is a little more playful with a trip out to a nature conservatory. I’m jealous that they got to feed kangaroos out of their hands! After playing around for awhile Mark takes Amanda on to their dinner date at a Japanese style steakhouse. Mark asks her what her favorite part of the date was and she says it was when he was holding her hand in the car ride. Later, after the dinner, the couple cuddles up in a hotel room on a floor of pillows and start making out. Plenty of classy open mouth moments there.

Amanda Age of Love

That’s it for the ladies! No more chances to influence Mark. Time to make a decision Mark. Who will it be? As the scenes cut between the women Mark confesses the reasons for why he feels the way he does for them. It starts to get a little dizzying in the final moments, but we finally learn that Mark feels it isn’t going to work out with Jennifer. Mark has chosen Amanda for Age of Love. Apparently the moral of the story is that age does matter for Mark. Damn! I’m really disappointed here.

So what do you all think? Did he make the right or wrong decision? Share your thoughts?

Well I was really disappointed in Marks choice.
Amanda was just a little whinner all thru the whole process.
I thought that he and Jenn had more chemistry in everything they did together.
I guess what it all comes down to is, he went with “Mommies’ choice. :)
This relationship in my opinion will never last.

  2. Matt

I completely agree. Mark and Jen really did seem to have great chemistry in everything they did. Amanda on the other hand was so clingy, needy, and desperate for attention. I was saddened to see the end result and had hoped for a better ending.

  3. Bridget

I agree with both the above statements. I am so disappointed in his decision. What was he thinking? I didn’t like Amanda from the start and I think he made a HUGE mistake!

  4. Leanna

I’m so upset! I knew he would chose Amanda but I really hoped he would chose Jennifer. She is going to be a jealous, whiny, insecure girlfriend. I hope he watches the tapes back and sees how she behaves.

  5. Dyna

I think we all have known for a while who he would choose. And I am sure the majority of us don’t agree with his decision. I don’t know that Jen would be the best choice for him either though. I agree, they won’t last forever!!

  6. Kim

Once again a waste of time. From the beginning it was Amanda, though she was by far the completely fake from head to toe. It was more of a disappointment to the viewers though, what was the point? All he wanted was fake boobs and no brain? age had NOTHING to do with this. The creator won’t get another chance at this joke.

Once again hollywood proves how shallow it can be. Reality TV indeed. I wonder how much prodding this poor, misguided, rich, spoiled, moron, athlete had from the shows producers to pick the way he did. I couldn’t even finish watching the show. For once I’d like to see something real. How about a REAL average guy on a show, with people from the actual world instead of hand picked genetic lottery winners. Maybe then we’d see how relationships work for the rest of us. Hollywood might learn something too….. then again, probably not.

I’m tired of everyone complaining about Amanda. She’s 26 for heaven’s sake & comparing her with someone old enough to be her mother isn’t really fair. We all know that with age comes wisdom.
Mark made the right choice. Amanda is beautiful and a good person. All the men on here can complain that Jen was this or that - but honestly, would YOU want someone 18 years older than you? Age WILL matter at some point.
As for the women, you might want an older ’sugar daddy’ to take care of you, but those taking jabs at Amanda are just being catty.

Mark made the right choice & I hope they’re happy together!

  9. Lynn

Oh please! Are you kidding?! Amanda, can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. DO you think she can travel in his social circles and not make a total fool of herself. She couldn’t even converse with his “laid-back” family …how well do you think she would do with people that he meets in his every-day life on the tennis circuit that he needs to impress. She is beautiful but completely without substance. That might be acceptable as many of these beauties are…but she is a little scary as she is also borderline neurotic in her obsession with him and might be the kind of person to “scratch” out someone’s eyes just for looking at him. I can see her being a bore very soon…much too insecure…clingy… and dreadfully insignificant.

I agree, age WILL matter at some point in their life if he chooses Jen. With Amanda he’s more closer to her in terms of stages in life. I know a lot of Amanda haters complained that she’s very jealous, whiny and insecure but that’s just their opinion for not liking her in the beginning. I on the other hand sees her better qualities (although I admit I see her jealousness). People says Jen & Mark have more chemistry. Well, Mark has it with Amanda more in my opinion. In fact, it was there from the very beginning and he’s the only girl he asked for a kiss (while most “cougars” including Jen asked Mark to kiss them). Amanda is more genuine in regards to her feeling for Mark from the very start and she expresses it. I understand where her jealousy comes from knowing she has real feelings for him so of course she gets bothered by all the things she hears from the other ladies. Also, we have to understand that there are a lot of EDITING in this kind of show and mostly the outcome or how each of these ladies are being portrayed might come from the producer itself. Anyways, I’m soo looking forward for the Fall TV!

  11. Sara Jackson

I agree Mark made the right choice, but only because Jen is too good for him. He is too dim to see what a poor choice he made in Amanda. Like all men all he saw what was pleasing to his eyes, not good qualities that a wife should possess. Jennifer is a better all around person and deserves much better than Mark.

  12. Sheba

Does anyone know what’s happened since the choice? I’m sure Mark has had his eyes opened if he watched the takes…he is intelligent or at least Momma would surely change her mind after watching. Give Jen some credit for a truly class act when he made his choice and as far as Amanda goes, my opinion was set when she first referred to the older women as “pathetic”… fits her exactly. Good luck Mark, you’ll need it!

  13. Charlene

In my family big age differences is quite normal. Dad, 18 years older than Mom. Mom’s Dad, 22 years older than his wife, and Dad’s Mother, 20 years older than her husband. As far as Age of Love’s Mark goes, it only shows her likes a tramp better than a lady. He is such a “Mommies” boy! I would bet hard earned money he and Amanda don’t last.

  14. Sheila

I was hoping he would pick Jen, too. Did anyone else notice at the beginning of the show last night that when they showed the back of the head of the girl Mark was saying no to, you could tell that it was Jen’s hair and not Amanda’s? What were the producers thinking?

I think Jen took the rejection very gracefully. Kudos to her for that.

Do you know if the show was popular enough for another series?

  15. Matt

I’m not sure if there will be another series. I’d watch it, but I think the ratings were pretty low this season. At least they didn’t cancel it like Pirate Master!

  16. Kitten inside, Cougar outside

I can’t blame Mark for chosing Amanda (who, behind his back, was all of the above plus super-manipulative). Her comments to Mark got Kelli and Jayanna booted off the show because she was jealous. I have nothing against great looks (which she definitely has) but she certainly has a lot of growing up to do.

Thing is, Mark has a reputation for dating “in the spotlight heiress-socialite-party girls” (Paris Hilton, Alexis Barba [18-year-old property tycoon heiress], Delta Goodrem [Australian singer]). Think Amanda is popular enough to further his career?

  17. E.L.

Has anyone found out if Mark & Amanda are still together? I seriously doubt it.

  18. Matt

I haven’t heard any updates yet, but considering we didn’t get a “six months later” epilogue I’m questioning it. If we hear any details I’ll be sure to publish it here for everyone.

  19. Matt

Good point. Amanda isn’t going to be nearly high profile enough for him if those are the ladies he’s dated in the past.

  20. sandy

I was not surprised Mark chose Amanda. As great at Jen looked (did she have help??), she was still close to 50. I think the comment that Mama wants grandchildren applied to Mark as well. 48 just seemed too old for a guy who may want kids. Jen’s talk on the bench to Amanda about what kind of man Mark might be was kind of a turn off also–she seems to be more a mother figure than a girlfriend. Jayanna seemd more “cool”, too bad she didn’t make it.

  21. Laurie

yes i did notice the hair thing. what a let down. ruined the show for me.. of course i wanted her to win. but then i am 48! lol

  22. Joanna

I can not believe he pick that air head she is so phony and was so jealous about the other girls. I knew he would pick her Amanda becuase he all along did want a younger women. The older women already have experience the young life. This relationship will not last becuase is very insecure, needy and and very Jealous person he will have a lot of problems with her. From the beginning I did not like her. He was just after one thing and that itself is fake.

  23. Jessica

First of all!!! Amanda is an amazing girl, very genuine and not afraid to express here true feelings. She remains true to herself and the fact that she doesn’t feel as though she has to hide her intentions or her emotions shows just how honest she is - she wears her heart on her sleeve and has a lot to learn, but that’s better than a desperate 48 year old woman who is blinded by her age so much as to believe that she’d be a great asset in Mark’s life.

  24. Janet

Thought his decision suited him …. I never found him the least bit alluring. YUK. Jen had Amanda beat all over the place.

  25. Janet

I agree with your assessment 200%!!! Amanda was a whiner from the get go …. very insecure. Maybe he chose her without making a commitment to get out of this mess!

  26. Mary

I was very disapponted in Mark chosing Amanda because she doesn’t have a clue about how to or what to do..she can’t make a salad!!The chemistry with him and Jen was great and should have accounted for something he may have learned a few things with the knowledge of an older woman. I don’t expect the relationship between Mark and Amanda to last very long (six months) because he will find out things about her that wasn’t shown.

  27. Mindy

I believe that Mark made a very bad choice. I hope he gets to review all the tapes and see all the footage of the girls in the rooms. I hope he sees that his choice was very bad. he will find out how Amanda lied about Jayanna and some of the other girls and how she thinks that she owns him. I don’t see it lasting a whole year before he realizes that she is not stable or smart enough to be his wife.

  28. Sheba

okay, now tell the truth Jessica…you’re really Amanda aren’t you?

  29. Annette

During the 1-1 date with Jayanna and Mark (the one where they watched a movie), Amanda promised Mark that she’d cook him lots of healthy meals. Cut to the visit with Mark’s family in Australia, and Amanda has no clue as to what to do with a head of lettuce, much less cook. And she gets sympathy votes from Mommy Dearest because she’s ’shy like me’ - methinks Amanda is the best character actor out there. Hillary Swank (creepy that they kinda resemble each other) has nothing on Amanda Salinas!

  30. june

that girl is a skank mark is pretty dang stupid amanda is a SLUT!!!

  31. Linda

To All You Amanda Bashers, your comments about Amanda was so far off she is very lovely and your very jealous. Her intentions toward Mark was there from the get go and she showed it I give the both of them Mark and Amanda my best. Don’t be so jealous about the young winning over the old. I’m older and if I was to be in Marks shoes I would of wanted a pretty and sweet little hottie like Amanda also. Before the show even started I checked it out on line and Amanda was my pick. You go Mark, Great Job and Amanda hang in there your great and you both make a smiling and Cute couple that deserve a lifetime filled with the very best. God be with you both.

  32. Deanna

Your right on about Amanda and Mark they are the cutest and greatest together. Age was right on for them.
