Not the best weekend for movies, but it’ll have to do until next weekend when we finally get Superbad. For the time being you do have a decent range of films with a fantasy flick, Stardust, horror movie, Skinwalkers, action/comedy movie, Rush Hour 3, and a “I need to pay the bills” movie, Daddy Day Camp. I’m not terribly excited to see any of these, so it might turn into a rental weekend for me. Are any of these movies in your plans for the weekend?
Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, August 10 - 12, 2007.

Stardust
Starring: Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Genre: Romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy
Rated: PG-13 for some fantasy violence and risque humor
Plot: A young man named Tristan (Charlie Cox) tries to win the heart of Victoria (Sienna Miller), the beautiful but cold object of his desire, by going on a quest to retrieve a fallen star. His journey takes him to a mysterious and forbidden land beyond the walls of his village. On his odyssey, Tristan finds the star, which has transformed into a striking girl named Yvaine (Claire Danes). However, Tristan is not the only one seeking the star. A king’s (Peter O’Toole) four living sons - not to mention the ghosts of their three dead brothers - all need the star as they vie for the throne. Tristan must also overcome the evil witch, Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer), who needs the star to make her young again. As Tristan battles to survive these threats, encountering a pirate named Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro) and a shady trader named Ferdy the Fence (Ricky Gervais) along the way, his quest changes. He must now win the heart of the star for himself as he discovers the meaning of true love.
My Take: Initially I thought this looked kinda interesting, but it seems cheesier every time I see the trailer. De Niro as some sort of hot air balloon sky captain? Huh?
Stardust Movie Trailer:

Skinwalkers
Starring: Jason Behr, Elias Koteas, Rhona Mitra
Director: James Isaac
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some sexual material and language.
Plot: A 13-year-old boy is targeted by two werewolf packs in the midst of a brutal civil war; while one side wants him dead, the other looks to protect him at all costs — leaving it up to the boy’s mother to keep him safe, and discover why her child is so valued.
My Take: Following the self-destruction of Captivity the studio went back and dropped this down to PG-13. Depends on what they cut and if it was just to make the new grade. Not much else looks interesting this weekend. Well, interesting in a cheesy B-movie kind of way.
Skinwalkers Movie Trailer:

Rush Hour 3
Starring: Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker
Director: Brett Ratner
Genre: Action / Comedy / Crime
Rated: Rated PG-13 for sequences of action violence, sexual content, nudity and language.
Plot: In the heart of Paris lies a deadly secret. Half a world away in Los Angeles, Ambassador Han is about to disclose it. In his possession is explosive new evidence about the inner workings of the Triads–the most powerful and notorious crime syndicate in the world. The Ambassador has discovered the identity of Shy Shen, the very crux of the wide-ranging crime ring, and he’s about to reveal it to the World Criminal Court–until he is silenced by an assassin’s bullet. The Triads will go to any lengths to make sure their secrets stay buried, and there’s only one hope for stopping them. LAPD Detective Carter and Chinese Inspector Lee are back–back where they don’t belong. The unlikely duo is headed to the City of Lights to stop a global criminal conspiracy and save the life of an old friend
My Take: I didn’t see the first two movies, so I’m not sure why I’d go see this third one. If you see it let us know what you thought. Interesting note, Chris Tucker is getting paid more than Tom Cruise does for this movie. Um, why?
Rush Hour 3 Movie Trailer:

Daddy Day Camp
Starring: Cuba Gooding Jr.,
Director: Fred Savage
Genre: Comedy / Sequel
Rated: PG for mild bodily humor and language.
Plot: Charlie Hinton (Gooding Jr.) looks to expand his day care business by opening up a camp for kids.
My Take: Let’s see, they didn’t get back the originals (Murphy) for the sequel and Fred Savage (Wonder Years) is the director. Hmm… mole!
