Big Brother 8

BB8 Dustin

I was stunned over the past week to watch Dustin plead with Jessica, “please put me up on the block next to Dick.” What started out as a bad idea of an America’s Player task for Eric turned into a easy stroll as Dustin did all the work for him. Eric just had to nod in agreement to check this box. So here we sit, Dick won PoV and saved Daniele, and following a moment of concern over Dustin’s loyalty Jessica took him up on his offer and put him on the block. I’d love to get a littl insight to Jessica’s thoughts on Dustin and Dick “having a deal” that would involve both of them being on the block at the same time. Sounds more like a suicide pact than a “deal” and for those unsure, no, there is no deal between Dick and Dustin.

Dustin thinks he’s sitting pretty this week as he believes the house must surely hate Dick and love him instead. Dustin wants to be next to Dick so he can give an elaborate speech on eviction night. Hmm, I’d rather just try to give that same speech from one of the side couches instead. Regardless, this is the situation so let’s take a look and see why I think Dustin is in more danger than he realizes.

There are only 6 votes this week which means we could have a tie and I’ll get back to that point. Let’s get the easy votes out of the way first. Daniele is going to vote to save dear old dad, no question. 1 - 0: Dick stays, Dustin goes. Jen won’t rock the Donato boat this week as she has a pretty decent deal going there. 2 - 0: Dick stays, Dustin goes. Amber won’t possibly betray her BFF, well not this week at least. 2 - 1: Dick stays, Dustin goes. Jameka and Dick aren’t exactly cordial these days and Dustin has been good to her. 2 - 2: tied vote.

Now things get a little sticky. I would first off assume that Zach will once again side with the Donatos and vote against Dustin. However, I’ve been hearing tales of Zach having an agreement with Jessica which would lead him to vote against Dick over Dustin. I suspect Dick to be sure to work every angle though and I think he’ll bring this little piggy back in-line and secure his vote to keep him. 3 - 2: Dick stays, Dustin goes. The final vote is left in our hands, America. Considering we saw Dustin selected earlier this week as Eric’s target for nomination I think it’s nearly a sure bet that we’ll see Dustin picked again to feel America’s wrath. 4 - 2: Dick stays, Dustin goes.

Looking over it, I’m confident on every vote prediction here except for Zach’s. Should I be wrong about Dick being able to convince him to stay on their side Zach’s vote against Dick would force a tie breaker from Jessica. Despite what we saw of Jessica’s paranoia regarding Dustin I just don’t see her facing him and Dick and then picking Dick to stay. If there is a tie vote I think we’ll see Dick head out of the house and be the first in sequester this season. Without a tie though, I think we’ll get a shocker of an eviction night and watch a stunned Dustin stumble out to Chenbot’s couch.

What do you think? Does Dick have a chance to survive or will Dustin get to safely give his speech Thursday night? Share your thoughts below.

I disagree. Other than wishful thinking from the Dick fans out there I’ve seen nothing that indicates Jen or Zach will vote to evict Dustin. Of course the producers are already trying to sway Jen to keep Dick, but if she goes along it’s only because of CBS meddling.

  2. Matt

As I noted, Zach may vote for Jessica more than for either of those on the block. But if not, considering his desperateness to have any sense of belonging in the game I believe he’ll stay true to the Donatos again this week just like last week.

You really think Jen will vote against D&D? She also voted to evict Eric and stayed in line w/ Dick’s request. It’s not so much that she’s voting against Dustin but rather that she’s voting for Dick.

Dick, Jen, and Zach voted as a group last week and were opposite the rest of the house. I think that’s a pretty decent argument for seeing it happen again, but this time w/ Daniele in Dick’s place. Add that to America’s Player’s vote being decided for him as “evict Dustin” and you’ve got Dick for at least another week.

“Only because of CBS meddling” is a difficult statement to prove.

Where are you getting your facts about CBS?

I missed the part where Zach made the decision to vote out Dick so it surprised me initially to hear about it during Zach & Jess’ dinner last night. However, I listened carefully to their conversation as Zach very maticulously showed her BOTH scenerios on voting one OR the other out. Then, as I remembered, Zach (still supporting the Danato’s for the most part) and Dick had talked about somehow carefully placing doubt in the other group about Dustin. Thus, I believe Zach should win a Grammy for the way he weaved Jess into this thought provoking process. She went right along for the ride going back and forth about who to vote out. My opinion is that Zach did exactly what he told Dick he would do by raising doubt amongst the other group. Zach seems to be true to his word on voting who he says he will vote for so I believed he would vote out Dick if that is what he said. BUT his performance won me over when at the moment Jess was considering voting out Dustin, Zach says “just tell me who to vote out and I’ll do it. If it’s Dustin, then that’s fine. I have no problem with that.” Jess then says something to the effect of ‘ok, so you wouldn’t have a problem voting Dustin out?’ and Zach says no. If he’s told to vote Dustin out, then he’s a man of his word on BOTH sides. So for the moment, the Danato’s have their little army hard at work trying to secure their votes for Dick to stay in the house. It’ll be exciting to see how it all plays out.

Lorac, was that question aimed at the post author or Danny?

  6. Matt

That’s very interesting to hear about Zach & Jessica’s conversation. I missed that on the live feeds. So it does sound like Zach will be doing whatever Jessica asks of him. If he manages to sway Jessica to evict Dustin that I will be very impressed with his abilities. She seemed so on the verge of that with last night’s show, so I don’t think Zach would have to push too hard.

Last night Jen told Amber that the producers in the diary room were trying to steer her vote in the direction of evicting Dustin (cbs knows their ratings will sink if dick leaves). Big Brother then told Jen to stop discussing her diary room sessions with other houseguests. It was on the feeds.

Jen and Zach woould have voted Kail out last week if they had known that Dustin’s group had changed their minds about evicting Eric. They just weren’t informed by the others. So far Jen and Zach are at least saying that they will evict Dick.

Dick may stay. No one knows yet. But I do think there’s a lot of wishful thinking going on that Dustin is leaving.

  8. Sarah

Yes, I did hear Jen make that comment last night. I have heard on more than one occasion, a houseguest making a comment(s) about being encouraged or swayed to vote a certain way in the diary room. In my opinion ratings are ratings and I have always believed that BB/CBS does play a part in planting seeds in the houseguests thoughts. I love BB but just wish it were a ‘true’ reality show where their thoughts are ALL their own.

  9. Matt

Yeah, I’ve always suspected of BB having a lot of control over what people think and say in the game.

If Jen is leaning back towards evicting Dick and Zach goes with the “I’ll do whatever Jessica wants” then Dustin should be safe. Either way, this will be a fun eviction night to watch.

  10. Tom

Not only do I believe that CBS influences the housemates. They are also influencing the viewing audience. If they would have shown on TV just how truly mean Dick was to Jen two weeks ago, America wouldn’t be voting to evict Dustin. They are making Dick look like a loving father and not showing his vindictive side.

  11. Matt

Absolutely. Discussing the show with someone that doesn’t watch the live feeds really exposes the vast difference between the broadcasted Big Brother show and the live feed Big Brother show.

I think it really is funny when they show all these little “touching moments” between Dick and Daniele because of the very reason you mentioned. He’s one nasty, mean dude.

  12. Greg

This is what I’ve been saying to people. CBS is editing the show to favor Dick. If you watch the Showtime show or the feeds, you see what a repugnant jerk Dick is. Since this show is categorized as a game show with a cash prize at the end, CBS could really get into trouble by trying to sway the votes. In the past, this wouldn’t really be a problem, but with viewers having a vote with America’s Player, CBS is treading in a dangerous area. And if the folks in the DR really are trying to persuade people, this is a huge ethics violation, and may in fact be illegal.

  13. Matt

As sneaky and deceitful as it may be for CBS to do these things I really doubt there are any legal ramifications. It’s their show with their rules. Just as they can create a binding agreement with Jen mid-season that if she wins she can only have 1/2 the money then they can do whatever they want. It’s all under their control.

I used to argue with a friend about the show because he said it was fake and scripted and therefore dumb. I argued, “so what?” It’s TV entertainment, I don’t possibly expect it to be legit and real anymore than 30 Rock or CSI. I watch it for the fun factor rather than the real factor.

So pretty much, if you’re just watching the show it’s time to tune into the rest of the game and start watching the live feeds. (Support Wild Bluff Media and try it free for 2 weeks and then quit if you wanna!)

  14. Sue

I agree that CBS has been “tampering” with the show for ratings, but it doesn’t surprise me. How do we know who America actually “votes” for?

Also, if Daniele was smart, she would vote out her Dad. I think he would understand and she would gain the respect of the other houseguests. This would eventually help her in the game.

  15. Matt

It would definitely wow her housemates to vote him out, but I think he’s an excellent barrier of protection for her. She already voted out her #2 supporter (Nick) so I don’t think she can afford to lose #1.
