Jurassic Park has always been one of the movies that I wish had been laid to rest after the first one came out. It was a fantastic adventure movie that could do no wrong, well except to pop out a few more sequels as it turned out. The sequel, Lost World, was the top grossing sequel for awhile there only because of how good the first one was. That time around only Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) was secured for that round. It was crap compared to the first, don’t even bother trying to argue that one either. Then there was the third Jurassic Park which managed to only get Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) to return (okay, okay, Dern was in it but not in a major role). This one wasn’t as bad as the second to me, but still couldn’t hold a candle to the original. Let’s not stop there though, not if there’s money yet to be squeezed out of this franchise.

Enter Jurassic Park 4! Spielberg apparently wants a shot at redemption here, but from the initial details this sounds awful. Laura Dern has signed on to reprise her role as Dr. Ellie Sattler, but Sam Neill has decided to have nothing to do with this. What I’m about to tell you is completely serious, sadly. This time in dinosaur land the government has decided to breed their own batch of dinosaurs so they can train them as tactical weapons. Oh yes, that’s right. I’m talking about dinosaurs with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads. Dr. Evil would be so very, very proud. The rest of us will weep.
