The weekend movie earnings are in and it’s no big surprise to me that Superbad took the #1 spot. It was a great movie (read my Superbad movie review) for those who don’t mind things crude and raunchy. Rush Hour 3 dropped one spot to #2 but still brought in a healthy $21+ million, not bad considering I thought word of mouth would kill that one. The Bourne Ultimatum stayed near the top for its third week with a very strong $19 million. From there things really drop off with The Simpsons Movie earning a little over $6 million in the number four spot. The Invasion, Nicole Kidman, was a remake that didn’t work for me (my review will be up Monday morning) or the box office as it earned just $6 million in its debut. The other new release, The Last Legion, didn’t make it into the top ten as it came to rest at #12 with a little over $2 million. I wasn’t surprised at all considering this looked like a real clunker of a movie. Did you see any of these this weekend? Let us know what you thought and if you would recommend any of them.
