Yesterday Paramount and Dreamworks Animation announced their studios would only be supporting the HD-DVD format in the Hi-Def DVD wars, which puts Blu-ray in the loser’s seat for this round. So when I read this little blurb from the hack master himself, Michael Bay, I nearly squealed in delight:

I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!

After all the heartache over this format war I’m thrilled to know at least one good thing has come from it: Michael Bay doesn’t want to do Transformers 2. Considering the dump he took all over the recently released Transformers movie I couldn’t be happier to know there’s still hope for the inevitable sequel. I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back and do it anyway as someone is likely to remind him he needs to keep all the work he can get. A movie guy can still dream though, right?
